Hometown Ace Hardware — Local services in Yakima

Just moved to Yakima and stopped by the store for some items for home repair. My first impression was the store was much bigger then other stores I have been in and was instantly drawn to the bbq section which i'm an avid fan of.

The bbq section is huge with everything you can think of including beef tallow!! While perusing the section, I was approached by an employee named Zach who asked if he could help me find anything. I asked about Meat Church rub and he took me to where they not only had Meat Church but a huge variety of rubs and sauces. I then asked Zach a question thinking I already knew the answer to. Back story: I'm in the market for a RecTec pellet grill and many Ace stores in the midwest and east coast carry them but I have never seen them in the PNW. I knew that this store didn't have any RecTec's on the floor and assumed they didn't have any but I had to ask, and asked Zach about RecTec's. His eyes lit up and he told me they just had their first order of RecTec's arrive and would be putting them on the floor very soon. Long story short, Zach was incredibly friendly, professional and knowledgeable about all things bbq and low and slow. After asking him for his card, I learned he was the bbq section specialist and I can see why. I truly enjoyed my time speaking to Zach and walked away gaining some new found knowledge from him.

This store has everything you can think of and frankly, I have never seen another Ace quite this big. They had everything you could think to include a section for home brewing beer!

We are renting temporarily to learn the area before buying a home but trust me when I say that this Ace will be my home store and I will drive 30+ minutes if I have to, to shop at this store. I will soon be buying my RecTec grill from this store and i'm super excited I got...

I have been shopping at Hometown hardware when it was next to Joann’s fabrics for years. You could say I was a very faithful customer spending hundreds of dollars a year. I liked the expertise and the cashiers. Each trip whether they had want I wanted or not was not a problem because of the way I was treated. Today marks my 3rd and last trip to the new hardware location because I have experienced more disrespect and lack of knowledge from the employees whether I am looking for a nut or using a coupon. Today was the final straw for me. I have never written a review like this but today was the worst experience I have ever had in a local hardware store that relies upon the locals. Today I am choosing a different store and new owners.

When you want a nice griddle find a different ACE Hardware. This one inflates the price by over 14%. Explanation given was to pay for the building (and free assembly). I am extremely happy to help a different friendly local ACE Hardware pay for their building at a 14% discount. $800 vs $930 is no brainer not including tax.

There was no promotion, except every ACE hardware in a 300mile radius had the same price except one. Glad I got it at a discounted price or I should say the advertised price both by manufacturer and friendlier local ace hardware I actually purchased from.
