Taj Palace — Restaurant in Yakima

The food was good for a buffet, it was fresh and tasty (mostly). I was looking for an Indian place, thus looked up for google suggestions and was pleasantly surprised finding Taj Palace. I LOVE the place in Redmond, always kind hospitality and awesome food.

I had a terrible experience with the floor manager in Yakima though. I was greeted with a namaste at the door (not the floor manager), that made me super happy! Quickly I realized that the person who greeted us at the door, was doing too many jobs like taking orders, serving, cleaning up tables, billing and it was getting busy at lunch. All this while this floor manager just stood there at the bar, doing nothing specifically except delivering the occasional drinks orders. We ordered buffet and few drinks from the bar. When we asked for a few additional utensils, Our server asked us to take them from the counter ourselves (no biggie as we saw he was super busy juggling all tables). So we did, and there this floor manager yells at me to not touch the utensils. When I tell him, his staff asked me to do so, he yells at the boy. I feel bad for the server, who looked young, so I refrain from any further commentary. The floor manager insinuates that we were not maintaining hygiene as my 8 year old ate naan with his hands and pointed that other white patrons might write a bad review for his place. He actually said that! All the while we were eating, the floor manager made us super uncomfortable as he kept staring at us while eating his lunch at one of the tables.

Well, I would recommend the food, so maybe a takeaway but not dining in at this restaurant if you have a kid, or prefer eating naan or roti with your hands or are not white - coz you might end up getting yelled at for not...

Food is average. Service is poor. Management treats customers very poorly. First bad experience was when I found a hair in my food when it was served to me. When I asked the waitress about this she said management claims it was not a hair, gave me a hard time when I did not want to eat that meal and to take it off my bill. Then never came back to our table after this event. Second bad experience happened tonight. I never wanted to go to this place again but my girlfriend loves their food so we went. Different server this time. Waitress gives her a glass of seven up when she asks for merlot. When getting her merlot waitress goes to the back with her ID (not normal protocol). Takes her time coming back to the table and comes back telling my girlfriend that she needed to pay for a previous 50 dollar meal due to a mix up with a dispute she made on a different charge to her card. We understand there may have been a mix up and the owner may have had to refund her; however, why did the restaurant not contact her months ago when this occurred. Instead they blacklisted her. Also business must be doing very poorly if they could not afford to comp a meal for REGULAR customers who were willing paying customers on a regular basis. Terrible customer service. i ate here today once again with my wife and friend , the food is always super perfect and so tasty,, although lately when i do the buffet there is a guy who confronts me if i leave even just a tiny bit of food on my plate saying your not eating the rest of that , its such a waste in front of my friends , soo strange and uncomftorable if i tell him im full then he askes me if i want to take it home for a small cost more . i then explain no thats ok , but it now has made me and my wife very uncomftorable today i said hey im sorry i left a little bit of pudding cause i was full and then expains to me he just dont like seeing people waste food ,, totally dont know whats changed lately , but seems a bit off track for proper managing with customer service , i even leave about a 10 dollar tip everytime so this seem far fetched . i do love there food though and want to go back even have introduced many family and friends to this place , but think im reconsidering comig back, due to the humilliation of not eating what this guy thinks is an appropriate amount of food in his judgement .. so im gona miss this place good luck you all ,, theyre usually so friendly so i hope it all works out for the better for them and the...
