It was difficult to find delicious tacos in Yakima to cater for our wedding that also does contracts. I've heard so many horror stories about people not having contracts for their event and something goes wrong. Jessica from Tacos El Rey was not only willing to work with us on a contract, but made sure she had all the details down and initiated meetings with us to clarify anything. She also made sure we were fed every time we met, which was completely unnecessary but so unbelievably generous. The week of the wedding we found out that she no longer worked with Tacos El Rey, but she would still be taking on our event and be there personally. That could have turned out much more stressful than it was and we were so grateful. On the wedding day, the food was AMAZING as usual, and they served both a chips and salsa appetizer and tacos with rice and beans. They supplied us with toppings, salsas, and all the containers and utensils needed for everything. We only had to give them a couple things and they handled the rest. Everyone was full and happy at the end of it, so I couldn't ask for any more. When they were done serving food, Jessica came to us and said some kind words to us before leaving and packed up some extra plates for us to eat later. I found out later that she actually wanted the display sign that we made because she liked it so much! After spending so much time on signage like I did, that was a huge compliment. The food is such an important part of a wedding and we wanted to get that right, and I think us booking Tacos El Rey was one of the best decisions we made. Give them a go at your...
Read moreYears ago, I had my very last experience with cow-brain tacos at Tacos El Rey (TER) origonal Taco truck location (in front of its current restaurant lot roughly). That was around the time of the mad cow scare. It was one of only two times I could not stomach what I had ordered. I will no longer even try brain's, and doubt that TER even offers them on their current menu.
A lot has changed since then for TER. They are now a dine-in restaurant, among other things, and are also one of the busiest lunchtime restaurants in yakima.
The food is great. Fresh made tortillas, doubled in tacos, makes an order of three tacos difficult to finish for even an enthusiastic appetite. I especially like their adobada. Seems they changed something in their recipe not so long ago, and now it is fire! Among the best overall adobada tacos available locally. Price for two people with a drink is around $25, so not real cheap, but a much better option than fast food, where meals are easily around the same price.
The only negative with respect to dining at TER is that they are especially busy during lunchtime, so be prepared to wait 10-15 minutes for your order during the rush. Come either before 11am or after 1pm if you prefer faster service. Tacos El Rey is still one of Yakima's best choices for tacos and burritos, in spite of the volume of people that frequently visit for a tasty,...
Read moreEn línea decía que cerraban a las 10:45 pm. Llegamos a las 10 y nos dijieron que para llevar which is fine and understandable as online hours said they closed within 45 min. El muchacho que cobra no tiene modo para trabajar. Fue muy grosero and his customer service was just bad in general. They were upset we came in at this time. They could have easily have said that they were closed and we would have taken our business elsewhere. It's as simple as that. As I said their online hours say they close at 10:45 which is why we showed up to order to go. Literally as we were speaking they were cutting us off mid sentence and rushing everything. We will not be going back. I explained it to them and they stated "Sundays we close at 10" and I said oh sorry we didn't know, we looked up your hours and that's why we came. Most likely will not come back. If you plan to work in customer service you need to have great customer service skills and just be nice in general. Como no se da cuenta Don Nacho como atiende su hermano en el negocio. Si se diera cuenta les aseguro que...
