I was in the mood for some soul food, but too tired to cook dinner myself after a long day working on my feet. I was passing through Yeadon on my way home an Googled soul food restaurants and Delaney's popped up. I'm so glad I decided to give this spot a try. I called in my order and the woman who answered the phone (later I found out this was Mrs. Delaney) was so courteous and explained details about my order; namely that the shrimp was sautéed in garlic and not fried. So many restaurants have poor customer service. It was nice to have someone so pleasant on the line. As a pescatarian, I ordered the 2-piece whiting platter with shrimp and cabbage and candied yams for the included sides. I added the mac & cheese as well. I rarely eat or order mac & cheese because I make it so much for family gatherings, but I'm glad I did. It was rich and creamy and you could taste they used multiple cheeses! The fish was fried well and the breading was seasoned to perfection. I really didn't need any hot sauce, but adding some put it over the top. The yams were sweet but not too sweet and the cabbage was good as well. I ate about half of the platter and was full and satisfied. I won't try the shrimp until tomorrow perhaps over some brown rice. But the garlic aroma was heavenly. I really aporeciated that the food was seasoned well, but not salty. I will definitely return to Delaney's. It's like going to your Auntie's or Grandma's for Sunday dinner. You can taste the love...

This is me and my family's new spot. So glad we found it today. I ordered the fish platter with mac and cheese and greens, hubby had ribs with mac salad and greens, oldest son had chicken wings and younger son had fried pork chops with candied yams. Let me tell you the food is absolutely delicious!! The portion sizes are crazy big too! I got 4 big pieces of fish seasoned and fried to perfection, hubby had about 6 tender and meaty ribs, and my sons' plates were enormous too! Literally everything tasted good. Not one thing was bad. The mac and cheese was the bomb, greens were perfect (and I'm super picky with my greens), the candied yams were soft and sweet but not too sweet. It was a great late lunch with The fam; definitely hit the spot. The restaurant itself is impeccably clean including the restroom. It's very homey and cozy; tastfully decorated with beautiful African art and masks hanging around. The man and woman working there are so inviting and friendly. Some of the best service we've had in a long while. We'll definitely be back and I hope this place is around for a long while!! Oh and next time I'll post pics of the food too. We were just too hungry this time around lol.

*Update- we came back today and I got pics of our delicious food this time! We all got fish platters this time. I'll post more pics of the other food next time.we come which will...

I will start by saying that I am very happy to have a great place not to far from home in Delaney's. Delco is a veritable good food wasteland. Nothing but bad chinese and bad pizza joints... Until now. The people who own it are awesome. Very personable and very genuine. Reminds me of family. The food is great. We ordered a few different dinner platters with all different sides so we could get a good sample size of the menu. Nothing disappointed. Everything was well seasoned without being salty. The fried foods were crispy without being greasy. Everything was freshly prepared to order. With that being said, if you cannot wait a little while for fresh food to be prepared to order then call ahead, but do not expect fast food timing because thank god it isn't fast food. It's real food. Real mac n cheese, real yams, real potato salad. No microwaves or cans. All scratch made. The seating area is a bit snug but definitely adequate to eat in. The kitchen is open. You can see the owners ten feet away cooking your food with love. Tonight was my first time but it will not be my last. It's relatively new, only been at this location for 6 months, but they're doling out veteran deliciousness in great portions and tremendous value. Give them a try. Support our businesses when they are worth supporting. This one...

Upon entering, you immediately notice the extreme lack of ambiance. The fried food/grease aroma was prevalent. It is a take-out spot. For $16-ish dollars, I almost changed my mind. The woman who took my order greeted me pleasantly and with a smile. I settled on the fried whiting with two sides. The fish was lightly breaded, well-seasoned, plentiful, and cooked to order. The macaroni and cheese was fairly good. I really appreciated that they used turkey to season the generously sized portion of greens versus pork. What I didn't appreciate as much was that the greens were a tad on the salty side. The place is a diamond and definitely in the rough. If you can get past the aesthetics of the surrounding neighborhood and the restaurant's interior, do give it a shot.
