Okay, this is really long, but please read. Do NOT eat here. If I could give a negative rating I absolutely would. This was the top WORST dinning experience ever. Customer service was awful. Food is terrible. Prices are astronomical and absolutely not worth it. My friend and I had a reservation for two a few nights ago. We waited for ten minutes (saw 4 different employees directly in front of us) without even being acknowledged. After we sat we had to flag our server down for everything! We asked our server when we ordered what the wait time for food was. She told us she would check and never returned. The table besides us had waited 1 hour and 20 minutes for a salad, sandwich and sushi. When our food finally came out, it looked disgusting and tasted worse. Both of us had to spit out bites of food we couldn’t even swallow they were so bad. To top it off there was a hair in our sushi. When paying $20-25 PER roll, I expect fresh fish, a sushi chef that knows how to cut fresh fish and no hair! We were praying we wouldn’t get food poisoning. 🤢🤮Lastly, the owners wife was the rudest women I have ever witnessed. As we sat there gagging on our food. The table next to us still hadn’t got theirs. (They we’re there an hour before us) When they asked to just pay for their drinks and appetizers, the woman so rudely refused. Making excuses instead of apologizing. Then she stomped off like a mad woman. I was embarrassed for her. When she returned, she had two out of three of their meals. She threw them down on the table with take out boxes and said “I don’t care what you do with it, eat it or take it with you, here it is.” And turned and stomped away again. 😯 Speechless. Please, NEVER go here. These owners should NOT being running a restaurant. Clearly, they do not care a bit about the...
Read moreI was going to give Ocean San three stars because the sushi kept falling apart as I picked it up and it was doughy, but it wasn't completely terrible. The prices are extremely high as well. It was over $90 for four rolls that weren't better tasting or bigger than Masa's or Ginmaya's rolls. However, after I saw this response to another customer's review, I was taken aback:
From Ocean San to a review - "Dear Alex, Obviously you are not educated on sushi coolers for the operation nor the proper temp of serving sashimi. It should be at a cool temp not cold. Thou delicious you stated I can pretty much rest assure that if you were food poisoned you would be in the hospital vomiting as well. The chef who has been there for over a year is not new .I can verify that as well because he is the owner. I guess the ignorance of people really show in social media due to lack of education and only proves one thing. You don't need to be smart to own a smart phone."
I get that the customer isn't always right, but this customer service in unacceptable. Insulting a customer who had a bad experience is only making the situation worse. "You don't need to be smart to own a smart phone." That is an extremely inappropriate response. Work on your customer service because if you had replied better to the customer's review, you wouldn't be getting another one star review now, and if anyone else asks my opinion about the place, I'll also be showing them your response. Customers want to know they will be heard and validated if they have a bad experience - not belittled...
Read moreMy significant other and I went here for a date night last night. I was surprised to see a sushi place in York I hadn't already heard of or been to, tucked away neatly in the little shopping center I know typically for the Corner Stable restaurant. It's a cozy, unassuming restaurant with a very clean, modern look to it. The service was fantastic- I don't think we ever really had to ask for beverage refills (they were ON it!).
My significant other ordered the Rainbow roll and a California roll, and I ordered the spicy seafood udon, and the first thing we had noticed was that the prices were a bit higher than we were used to. Then the food arrived, and we realized that this was exactly where that money went to.
The seafood is fresh (some items marked as market price), and exceedingly high quality. I have never had mussels that size (and no sand/grit!), shrimp that well-prepared (impeccably butterflied, no tail), or sushi of that magnitude. Even the California roll (the most basic of basics) was flavorful beyond anything I've had in a very long time.
The average meal appears to be about $20, but honestly, it's very worth it. Don't be afraid to upgrade- the king-size roll is equal to at least 2 regular-sized rolls elsewhere, portion-wise.
The dessert menu looked tempting; regrettably, I was far too full and had to get a to-go box, and my significant other was of a similar mind. We will definitely be going back and next time, we'll have to share so we can save room...
