We were so very happy to find this little jewel of a restaurant for lunch the other day. We've lived in the area for over a year now and we are so sick and tired of wasting our money in local restaurants that serve food that tastes like it comes out of a can, out of a box, or out of the freezer. It's like all south central PA restaurants are required to purchase their food from Sams Club, BJ's or Costco. Tapenade Bistro is absolutely a delectable breath of fresh air. Our lunches tasted as if every single ingredient was fresh and the meals were professionally prepared by well trained cooks or a chef. Food does not get any better or fresher than the meals we were served at Tapenade Bistro. It was also refreshing to see & speak with a woman whom I assume was the owner of this establishment. She spoke with each table of diners and was truly interested in each person's dining experience in her restaurant. Our server was very personable also while maintaining her professionalism. Frankly, having lunch here at the Tapenade Bistro was one of the best dining experiences we've had since moving here to the York area 18 months ago. Today our waitress was so sweet and very kind. But yet again, we witnessed the two female owners spending time at numerous other tables with small talk and kind words and laughter; yet again not a peep to us, not even a "how is your breakfast." At one time, I made eye contact with one of the owners and she deliberately averted her glance to avoid a friendly exchange.
We usually eat breakfast out 3-4 times per week and do enjoy the taste of their food, but it's hard to swallow being ignored...
Read moreFood is a bit overpriced but the Omelette me and my mom shared was big and pretty tasty. The specialty coffee my mom ordered though tasted like watery cinnamon w a hint of coffee in there. The cup was half full which was even more disappointing. My mom told our server who finally appeared about 10 minutes after the hostess bought our drinks, her solution was to bring the regular pot of coffee and top it up. She was still charged $4 for this special coffee. Getting the servers attention was nearly impossible when she actually came outside which was even more disappointing. The place looked cute with outdoor seating when we drove by but I think we would have had better luck at the coffee shop across the parking lot where we stopped for coffee...
