The Bar Next Door — Restaurant in York

Came in as a recommendation to try while on vacation . We were so grateful we did . It will not disappoint, from the lovely hostess who was so friendly and made us feel welcome. Then our waitress Stephanie who was so friendly and not only attended to us but also to our dog . The outside atmosphere was so comfortable and felt cozy . We met the owner Kristen who was also welcoming and genuinely friendly . Now the best part … the food ; everything was delicious. We started with pork dumplings which were mouth watering ,perfectly made and presented! My meal was the salmon , truly out of the world . And my husband had Cajun chicken quesadillas. They were so tasty and delicious. And last but not least dessert ; a warm waffle with ice cream , chocolate sauce and hazelnuts which we devoured leaving us perfectly satisfied. Let me start by saying the food was good. But not sure it was worth the 3 hours wait. Got there at 6 on Wednesday and they said twenty minute wait. We grabbed drinks at bar and waited about 40 minutes. We were a groups of 6 adults, they sat a group of six right before us, but only 3 had showed up. So they sat with a half empty table while they waited for their entire group to show. Not best management of table space. They could have pushed a couple two tops together, but instead sat couples down that arrived after us. When our table was finally ready we put in out orders and the food took over an hour to arrive. We ordered burgers and salads. Should have never taken that long. Our servers apologized for the long wait for the food. She was very nice and no fault of her. We had trouble trying this place, because our favorite restaurant is next door - The Central (same owners). We are fired up that we did. This place blew us away. Everything tasted incredible. Every dish component made sense and complimented the dish. The sauces on the chicken dumplings made this dish my personal favorite first bite of 2024. So good. They have small and large plates at very fair prices. Great variety on the specialty drink menu and the dinner menu. Something for everyone. We will be back to eat our way through the entire menu.
