Village Scoop Ice Cream — Restaurant in York

It was the first REALLY nice day of the spring and daughter and I were off on one of our weekend adventures. After a full afternoon of exploring the sights of coastal Kittery and York we swung through York Village only after taking a wrong turn. I was planning on going up through York Beach to stop and get some ice cream. Luckily I saw the sign for the Village Scoop Ice Cream. We immediately pulled into an open parking spot and hopped out of the car. The shop is located in the basement of the building, just go around to the left and then down the stairs. It was fairly busy and there was only one women working at the time. But she steadily and pleasantly took care of each customer at a time. After receiving our order we turned to go and I realized that I didn't have my car keys on me. A quick run up to the car confirmed my fear. I had locked my keys in the car. The woman working at the Village Scoop Ice Cream shop kindly helped me out by letting me borrow her phone. After we went out to the front of the shop to wait, the woman came out to let me know AAA had called her back and that they were just 10 minutes away. We were visiting from NH today and decided to have our usual start-o-the-season ice cream at Village Scoop in York. We were skeptical since our NH favorite sets a high bar.

Well, we were pleasantly surprised! If we lived locally, this would be our go-to!

My go to is chocolate chip with chocolate jimmies. The jimmies actually had chocolate flavor in addition to texture and the chocolate chips were a good dark chocolate!

The chocolate dipped waffle cone is a fav of mine, which unfortunately our usual place does not have. The cone although good tasting had a taste to it....it is either flavored a bit or this batch of cones had too much almond extract type of flavor, but it was good but a "flavored" cone is not needed with ice cream, IMO.

I prefer an outside window set up rather than having to go into a store front for an ice cream cone but that would not keep me away from this...

Very busy! Limited selection. Ice 🍦 ice-cream is very creamy! I had the Moose Traks , raspberry with chocolate chips and truffles. Very good with a sugar cone on top. My son had a chocolate ice-cream. His disappeared quickly. My friend, she had a coffee ☕ drink with chocolate 🍦 ice-cream and I think 🤔, whipped cream., . She enjoyed her order. There seem to be three places available to park. The Village Scoop has its own parking 🅿️ lot. Eighteen spaces with one being handicap. The second 🥈 is between a bagel 🥯 cafe and the Village Scoop.
