We recently had the sincere pleasure of visiting the Old York Village historical site and it is filled with so many treasures to see and learn about. All of the individuals who work there are full of knowledge and stories that make the visit even more interesting and meaningful and so worthwhile! We learned so much about the history of York and the surrounding area and it truly was an incredible experience and I highly recommend a visit to others! You will be so glad that you visited!
We were also fortunate enough to have signed up for the Memorial Day Remembrance Walk, which was led by Ken McAuliffe and Mike and they took us to all the different war memorials in town as well as the cemetery and gave us a tour that was filled with so much history and touching recounts of the men and women who sacrificed their lives for our freedom and for the love of this country. It truly was one of the most meaningful and memorable activities I’ve ever participated in on Memorial Day and I would highly recommend this walk to others! It truly was an incredible experience and it was a vivid reminder about the cost of war and how many lives are forever impacted by those loved ones who so bravely gave their lives for the cost of freedom. The walk is done each year on Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day and one can sign up on the website. Thank you to Ken and Mike for making this...

A couple times each year the Museum of Old York will host local chefs, which do a special hearthside full course dinner. The dinners are BYOB, so don't forget your favorite bottle of wine. The seating is family style with six people per table. The wait staff is in period garb. See photos.
These local chefs cook memorable meals. The last event we attended was hosted by the chefs from Wabi, York Maine. Their menu included Bellini cocktail, open hearth wood fired pizza, open hearth grilled Caesar salad, black and white tagliatelle primavera, open hearth grilled lobster and sea scallop thermidor, and baked Alaska for dessert.
You'll find these culinary events memorable, gastronomically satisfying, and well worth the price, which is...
Read moreThis was a fantastic few hours touring the museums and learning some of the history and culture of York, Maine. Our tour through the Old Gaol was cool - I always seemed to miss it when I had the chance to be in town. Staff was friendly and happy to share what they knew about the Historical Society's work to highlight the area and people here. The buildings hold so much interest artifacts, there's an old tavern that we wandered through, and a beautiful cemetery on the grounds. So...
