Poor customer service!!! Not the same experience I previously had at Miny's. I was so upset when I left that I had to leave a review so my experience does not happen to anyone else. Went to buy simple chips, salsa and guacamole for a work birthday treat for 8 co-worker. Never imagined my bill would be $36.00!!! Wow...for one 16 oz salsa, one 8 oz salsa, two bags of chips and 16 oz of guacamole. Now, I would think that a bag of chips would come with any size salsa. However, when I was utterly shocked at the total bill, I was told chips to not come with the 16 oz salsa, it only comes with the 8 oz salsa. So, because I had already needed to change my order since I had a $25 birthday budget, and I was not even thinking (still blown away by the $36 bill), I changed my order to 16 oz salsa, 2 bags of chips and 8 oz guacamole; this brought my bill down to $23.30. Still seems high, huh? So as I was standing there and the order was being put together, I said it would have made more sense for me to get two 8 oz salsas that each come with a free bag of chips and go with a 16 oz guacamole, which would come to approximately $15. I would have eliminated the need to purchase two bags of chips. The gal just looked at me. The manager was standing at the register and had nothing to say. At that point I just decided to leave it alone, since the look on her face showed irritation. There were also two customers waiting. Good customer service would have been to say, I would recommend getting the $3.99 8 oz salsa, which each comes with a free bag of chips, and you would still have enough for a larger guacamole and save about $8. Neither offered this to me. I left thinking, I cannot believe I just paid $23 instead of what should have been $15. I literally paid for two bags of chips that I could have got for free. It gets better. As I was venting my frustrations, my co-worker was shocked. She tasted both the chips and the salsa, as did another co-worker that joined in the review. The one said, I've had better salsa that comes free with my meal, and the other said, agreed, too late now. It's unfortunate it cost so much!...now we know! Disappointment with the manager who could have made this a better experience for me, eliminating my need for a...
Read moreI was a huge fan of La Casita on Washtenaw, and was heartbroken to hear it was no longer La Casita. On a whim tonight, we decided to try the "new" Mexican joint in that spot, Miny's.
Words cannot express my joy and delight when I walked in to see pambazos on the menu. Turns out, Miny's is new ownership of La Casita, with the same menu. Including pambazos.
The food is still amazing. I got the spicy chicken pambazo, and the flavor is unbelievable... The meat had a fair amount of heat to it, but it keeps a complex flavor profile that is usually sacrificed for the sake of "heat." The Mexican bun that the sandwich is made of was obviously fresh baked, as it was still fluffy after being grilled.
My better half had the flautas, which were excellent and served with a full plate of sides, and even the relatively basic chicken quesadilla that the kiddo had was full of flavor.
If you were a fan of Casita and your sorrow at their apparent closure has kept you from visiting the new business, wallow in your sorrow no longer. Go get yourself a...
Read moreI am new to the area and was looking for a good Mexican restaurant. After a bad experience at another place, I was recommended to try Miny's. I was not disappointed and am so happy to have found them. I used their online ordering system, which was super easy to use and gave great updates on my order status. The pick-up was super easy, and the inside of the business was clean and looked newly redone (not much space to sit and eat). The food was the real highlight. Everything was flavorful and had a perfect amount of spice. Their sauces and salsa were delicious and tasted fresh. The prices were typical for what I would expect and not expensive, which seems to be the norm for the area for some reason. I will definitely be coming back. The only downside is there are limited...
