Shish kabab Palace — Restaurant in Ypsilanti Charter Township

The food was fine but we ordered on door dash. When I picked up my food, the young man behind the counter seemed confused by the idea of a doordash and I had to explain to him for 5 minutes that I was there for the bag sitting 5 feet away from him.

We ordered hummus and they forgot our bread. After explaining this for several minutes to the woman who answered, I was told I could come by to pick it up. When I got there, she went in the back and talked to someone, then came back out and grilled me about the missing pita.

She left off with "well I'm absolutely sure you already got your 6 pieces of pita, you're SURE you didn't have any bread?"

Lady, it's pita bread. I'm not going to order an $8 hummus, drive 2 miles home, then 2 miles back to steal pita.

Idk what margins you guys have that 6 pita THAT YOU FORGOT was worth a 1 star review and losing someone who would otherwise have...

I’d been to the restaurant that was open previously in this location and was not impressed, but noticed the new Al Yemen Kitchen and I’m so glad we gave them a try! We ordered some basic sandwiches (falafel and chicken shawarma) and both were amazing - the chicken was perfectly cooked, not dry or too salty, and the pickles were actually delicious. The falafel was fresh, crunchy, and also perfect. I wanted to try a traditional Yemeni dish also and got the saltah, a rich stew of veggies with a lamb based broth. It was served with warm pita and my choice of lentil soup - it was the comforting dish I was looking for. The hummus was super good too - creamy and fresh. We ordered Garlic Chicken wings and Fried cauliflower for appetizers.

Then Al Yemen Combo for 2 as our entrée

The wings were very crispy and very juicy with refreshing tart garlic cilantro flavor profile🤩

Fried cauliflower was fluffy with lite crisp. Creamy and slightly tangy sauce on the plate paired well.

One of the items on the combo was out so they doubled up other items.

The slow roasted lamb blew me away😍🤩

The lamb was super tender falling of the bone and super juicy (never mushy) with full of umami without gamey flavor.

The best lamb dish I've ever had in my life 💝

Our server Dawn was incredibly sweet and awesome with great knowledge about their food.

She brought us, Yemen salsa, hummus, and baklava for us to try.

I just can't wait to go back there.

This is our new favorite restaurant💖
