DO NOT GO HERE DO NOT GO HERE DO NOT GO HERE. I am beside myself. I am literally in my car outside of their restaurant in the parking lot riding this. I am shaking and I am in tears. I am such a fool. I went to this restaurant for the first time when I moved here back in March for cancer treatment. It was a Saturday and there were only two servers because one called off and every table was taken but the two that worked did a good job with grace under pressure. Although the experience was miserable but I figured it was just an unusual circumstance so I went back today. I have chemotherapy tomorrow and money is tight with my budget. That's nobody's fault. That's my reality. For the next few days I will be down on my back recovering from treatment so our debate over where I wanted to treat myself today and I came here. The server presented the spaghetti and I could not eat it as soon as I saw it was loaded with onions in the sauce and I never even touched it. She asked if I would like something else and I got the tuna melt. She brought the truck when I was about halfway finished with my sandwich and I saw I was being charged for the spaghetti. My stomach started shaking and turning because I cannot afford $22 on a lunch especially a lunch that I did not eat I did not eat any more of my sandwich because I was sitting there in my head trying to figure out how the hell am I going to for this. I have never had a restaurant do this and she told me it was a decision made by the kitchen. I asked to speak with the person who made the decision and he told me it was my fault because I did not inquire what all the ingredients are. He said every customer sits and looks at their menu and ask about every ingredient that's in every item. That is complete bull. The waitress flat out lied to me because the man said he thought I was taking the spaghetti with me which is why he charged me. Nice cover but that's not true and the spaghetti was not going with me. It never was going to leave with me. Suddenly they are all trying to cover their butt as to why this happened and if the spaghetti was supposed to go home with me why did they give it to me. Where was it? It was taken away from the table. When I went to the counter to pay nothing was said to me about offering me the spaghetti to go. The waitress boldface lied to my face. She did not want to have to avoid the charge on the check because her tip would go down. She did not get a tip. And I am going to tell this experience to everybody that lives within the proximity of this establishment. The good people of Ypsilanti deserve better. I know they have the regulars and maybe those people became accustomed to the lack of service here but I never under any circumstance patronize them. I live in a building in downtown ypsi what's 170 apartments. We have a bulletin board. Guess what is going to be posted on that board? What put me over the edge was to insult me by telling me it...
Read moreMy first experience here was a bit rocky. Our server was very nice and friendly, she didn’t mention her name though. I ordered a grilled chicken dinner with mashed potatoes and a salad. The hubs ordered broasted chicken, fries and a salad. Our food came out and my order was wrong, I got 2 pieces of broasted chicken and mashed potatoes. Our server apologized and brought me the correct order, she was very nice about it, taking the blame. However, her and another worker were talking about making the correction right in front of us, mentioning she had to pay for the wrong order, and she would be able to take it home. This made my husband and I feel very awkward, like we needed to tip extra after hearing she would have to pay for the food out of pocket. My “grilled” chicken was not grilled at all. It was highly seasoned and cut into strange lengthwise pieces (for faster cooking, I imagine) and seared on a flat top, not extremely dry but had a rubbery texture. No grill marks, no grill flavor. The mashed potatoes were blazing hot, and the bottom and edges nicely dried out as if they were re-heated in the microwave too long. It was just ok. My husband had no complaints about the broasted chicken dinner, though. My food was edible but not the best thing I’ve ever had. Sinbad features a large menu and I bet they do great breakfast. However dinner meals are not their strong suit, at least...
Read moreThe place looks dirty with extremely old and ripped carpets and booths too. Sorry, but it's absolutely disgusting to have to sit and bear it. I ordered an omelette. The waitress said it would have 3 eggs and hashbrown would be ample too. Instead, both of them were very thin with 2 eggs and very little, I mean honestly VERY LITTLE, hashbrown. Also, it didn't have enough vegetables and no green pepper either. The owner found out about my opinion, but he didn't address it. We have given this family our business for many years, but now they are clearly cheating and shortchanging their guests. Charge me more, but give me enough food. No problem then. The service was not good either. I paid the full price and 15% tip too so they don't think I'm being cheap. I told them money is not an object; it's the principle and the amount of food promised on the menu that counts. I will never go there again. Not any more after the owner's very disrespectfully ignoring our complaint right as he was looking at us from the other side of the counter. I recommend no one goes there. I hope the next owners will treat people better and...
