We’ve enjoyed coming here for many years, always received good food and service.
Unfortunately, after tonight we’ll rethink our decision to return.
At least 2-3 times a week we make an effort to provide community support, by giving our business to local restaurants during the pandemic. No big deal— many do it.
Tonight, we placed an order for pick up. Ordering a large salad and two appetizers. We noted, asking for extra dressing and salsa. This has never been a problem in the past. We ask because the portions are inconsistent with that in a dine-in setting, where we ask for extra and it’s received with our carry out orders. Some items are additional costs, which is fine...as we’re happy to pay.
My husband checked the order. Requested more salsa...and was flat out denied. Which was odd.
He explained it was barely enough for the complimentary chips we had not expected (again carry out inconsistencies...receiving chips are hit and miss with online orders— sometimes we get them sometimes we don’t) ....and he asked (please) for more salsa for the appetizers.
The hostess explained the two very small to-go containers were complimentary and he in fact had enough salsa...stressing the point they were complimentary. Again, my husband asked for more and said he’d pay for it if that was the issue....but the hostess was hellbent for whatever reason to not give him more.
Frustrated, he said screw it.
We got home...a little perplexed and annoyed, ready to eat and found that our appetizers were COLD. We live just around the corner —so it wasn’t cold because of a time/distance issue.
When we placed our order, it gave us a pick up time....we arrived just a few minutes early and then had to wait another 25 minutes beyond scheduled pick up and we’re treated as if we were early rushing— them. Our food if not hot ...should’ve been at the least—warm by the time we got home. The food looked like it was ready before we arrived and just sat there. It was gross even after reheating at home.
Now—it’s stupid to go out of my way to write a negative review over salsa and cold food that should’ve been hot. But, in this climate where it’s rough on everyone....giving my business to locals you’d think would be appreciated by way of decent customer service. When you tell someone to pick up their meal at a certain time, come close to honoring that and above all—ensure the meal is fresh/hot and my goodness if a customer makes a request for anything more give it to them —either complimentary or request acceptance of applicable charges.
Maybe, there was a limited supply of salsa, well if so—explain that...as that’s understandable. I don’t understand what the big deal was... when we dine in and get a few bowls replenished at no charge—and yet, if it was extra my husband was expressing he’d pay for it. But the hostess was not giving up anything extra...complimentary or charged. It was this odd pushback that makes no sense as a (regular) pre-Covid customer.
In the future, we will refrain from returning...
Read moreAfter a long drive we were excited to not only stop for dinner, but to see my sweet niece and her family as well. We met up at Jose’s for some yummy Mexican food. It’s in a busy parking lot shared with many other businesses. It is not a free standing restaurant, but part of a strip mall. The location is not huge, but I wouldn’t say small either. Once inside we were greeted right away. I can see having to wait outside if busy since the check in area is tight. We were taken to a booth which was pretty close to the bar. Our drink ordered were taken quick and chips and salsa brought over. The salsa had a good kick to it and chips weren’t stale and I enjoyed them both. I knew instantly I was ordering the chile verde because it’s my go to if available typically . Well, either that or anything shrimp. Everyone else ordered fajitas, chile Colorado and I can’t remember the other items, but everything g came out quick, looked delicious and the portions HUGE. Our tortillas were fresh and soft and oh man everything was so good! the table ordered some margaritas and beer as well. I had a Coke Zero and while the waitress brought seconds rounds of alcohol my drink was never refilled or I even asked if I’d like anything else. No biggie I should really chill on the soda anyway, but you should be aware of your entire table when serving. Once we were done our check was brought quickly, to go boxed given and the plates cleared so we could chat a little longer before leaving. I see they had another location as well. All in all it was a good stop. If in the area I’d...
Read moreMy family and I happened upon this location while we were driving to visit family on St. Patricks day and needed a spot to give our 13 month old twins dinner. We had been looking for a different place that turned out to be not even remotely what we were looking for and this was nearby and we decided to give it a shot.
We had the butternut squash mole enchiladas, the flautas, and a tamale. The twins had a cheese quesadilla with rice and beans. All of us loved the food. We wish that we had Mexican food this good near where we live. The butternut squash mole was particularly good for me. It had a good Earthy undertone with a mild-moderate flavor of the butternut squash.
Even better than the food was the wait staff! Lately it seems like servers would rather just not be bothered by customers. Here, EVERY member of the staff that we interacted with was helpful and seemed pleased to be associated with us. They made us want to come back to visit them even though we would have to go several hundred miles out of our way to do so. While I can't remember how to spell their names exactly, Vanessa and Makeilah (I hope I was close) were fantastic. I didn't see the names of the others but they were...
