Have had lunch at this establishment a few times now, and despite technically being a fast food restaurant, the service and quality of food has been stellar every time.
For starters, the staff are very friendly, greeting you as soon as you walk in the door. The entire facility is bright, open, and usually very clean.
We were helped by a very personable woman, who took our order efficiently and read back our items as we ordered, eliminating any order confusion. She was well versed on the point of sale equipment, and smoothly and successfully offered the daily promotion (half-price shakes...yes, please).
Our food came out quickly and was hot, fresh, and delicious-looking. The food didn't disappoint and was juicy, tasty, and made perfectly to order. The burger was an absolute treat, with melted cheese, a perfectly cooked, seasoned patty, and fresh, crispy lettuce and tomato. The fries were nicely salted, and I ate them without ketchup, as they didn't need any.
The shake was super thick, with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and a cherry on top. It made me feel like there was a true soda fountain in town. The only thing missing is if they served it with the mixing cup.
One small gripe I did have was the overall cleanliness of the place, as there were several booths that still had signs of since-departed customers, which remained during the time we ate. Most of this was relegated to the floor though, as it looked as if most of the tables had frequent wipe-down service. Also, this seems to be an isolated incident, as it has been cleaner other times we've been.
Napkins were given generously, and condiments were within easy access. Portions were just right. Everything on the menu is tempting, from their signature burgers, to their sides, to their treats and desserts. Their prices are higher than your average fast food joint, but their food and atmosphere more than make up for it.
All in all, we've had consistently good experiences here and look forward to heading here again soon. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a...
Read moreMy wife and I stopped here tonight to order a shake and some fries. While waiting for our food an older retired Navy Veteran who had already received his food prior to us entering the establishment was still waiting on his shake. He proceeded to the counter to tell the General Manager (GM) that he had been waiting about 15-20 mins for his shake and was wondering what was taking so long. The GM immediately went on the defense and started arguing with the customer about the drive through orders etc. He then asked the gentleman to leave the establishment and the guy agreed if he could just get his shake. Another employee brought the shake at this time and the GM holds the shake up and says "how about I just don't give it to you." The customer replied and said "but I paid for it with my own money, you can't withhold it from me." The GM probably thought twice and handed him the shake and told him he was calling the cops and offered a subtle threat that I did not hear to which the customer said "you are threatening the wrong person." The GM calls the cops as a priority 2. 3 patrol cars show up to this Old retired veteran who is super soft spoken, not a threat to anyone that says" all I wanted was my shake." After witnessing the whole altercation, my wife and I are completely blown away by the complete lack of professionalism set forth by this GM. As bystanders it was blatantly obvious that the GM was antagonizing the customer and just didn't find the reaction he was looking for. What a complete waste of resources and loss of multiple customers who also witnessed this. Do better Steak n' Shake. Train your managers to manage and to be professional! We were embarrassed that a professional in this role acted in such an unprofessional way. You are located in a community of service members. 99% of them are never looking for an altercation of any kind. Especially not an old...

This is what I personally think : 2 words Rhythm and Time For people who compares their shakes to Foster Freeze? Sorry, but thats gross. Foster Freeze has fruit flies everywhere. They have it in their ice too. The "ice chunks" that people were ranting about? Yah no, Its miniature chunks of the shake itself. It literally melts as soon as it hits your tongue. I feel that the reason it has shake chunks cause it was not at the right temperature. Our food came 20 minutes like they said. My burger was hot but my husband says his was warm. He doesn't like that. He said he likes in and out more and that is okay :. He did like the fries. I saw 4 managers; there was 2 in the back, 1 in the front and one outside. I have no idea why though. If your restaurant is in a rush, assuming you are not a manger that was training the new staff, you shouldn't be taking a break. You are a manager who is earning salary not hourly. I applaud the manager in the front of the house. She looks tired but when I tried talking to her she still gave me a smile. So people who was complaining of the service, lets also put ourselves in their shoes for a minute. In conclusion, rhythm is needed in the kitchen. Expediter should time the tickets that are coming in. I strongly believe that my burger was hot because my husbands burger came first and was waiting on mine. Time is needed cause this is literally their 2nd day. We need to give them time to catch their rhythm. I would totally go back. The chocolate shake and portobello mushroom is always calling my name. Again this is just my...
