First of all I'm glad to see a new restaurant open up in Zion. There's such a lack of good restaurants in the area.
The restaurant has been nicely decorated with a supper club type feel. The old painted concrete floors are still the same from the last Asian restaurant that was there. We went there middle of the week and there were several customers eating dinner. It was nice to see some wooden swings as you walk in along with a gas fire torch. That should catch people's eye as they drive down the street.
The bread they give you as a starter is good. Along with some jelly and butter spreads. Prices are comparable to supper club restaurants. The lowest being around 14 and the highest being around 30. I noticed they only serve prime rib on Friday and Saturday nights. I opted for the chicken pot pie and the wife went with the herb chicken dinner . The pot pie had a flaky crust on top. The creamy sauce was good. However I could tell they used chicken that had been sitting around as it was tough to chew through. I'm guessing leftover chicken from the dinner service before. The dessert cart looked okay. Nothing that jumped out at us so we took a pass.
The wait staff seemed nice. The bar appears to be the same as the last restaurant.
I'm hoping this restaurant will stay around for a while. They seem to come and go in Zion. My best advice would be to keep the quality of food top notch. Don't cut corners. People don't mind paying a little more for good quality food.
UPDATE....
Returned last night 9/7/19 to give it a second try. Had a nice young lady taking care of us. Overall wait staff was an improvement. Had the $25 prime rib dinner. It was just okay. The prime rib really wasn't that thick. Seemed like they made it during the week and then just cut off a piece and heated it up. If you want better prime rib there are many other recommended destinations. Such as Texas Roadhouse in Kenosha. Or Corner House in Racine.
They are getting there but not ...
Read moreI wanted to like this place. We were excited when we walked in, nice looking little place we didn't know is a few blocks from our house. Our waitress was on it and super nice. Drinks came promptly, as well as refills. But we had to leave after ordering 3 sandwiches and waiting 45 minutes, with no sign of them coming out any time soon. The food did smell great, and other customers who said they waited super long as well, said the food is pretty good. But I don't think we'll be back to try again. This seems like it's an expected experience from what others were saying as I canceled my order to pay for the drinks and go.
There was even another table that was struggling to decide if they should also keep waiting, or leave to make it in time to their concert while still hungry. There was a manager-looking dude standing there hearing me cancel the order, the server cared a lot more than he did that they just lost out on some fun new regulars from the neighborhood. She (the server) was the only person in this place who looked like they were trying at all.. We watch Bar Rescue and we chuckled a bit that this was our first experience feeling like we were at one of the "before" restaurants with no systems or...
Read moreFinally stopped in when a coupon arrived th same time we were looking for a place for dinner. Friday night and bartender was also the server. Not the best plan for a corner pub atmosphere. After waiting a while at the door a customer at the bar came to seat us, told us he wasn’t working but saw us waiting for a while.
Food we chose was decent. I got the catfish Friday fry special, sides came out cold. Had the spinach artichoke dip appetizer which was ok. My partner had the chicken sandwich with fries he said was ok.
Server never came back to check on us after food was delivered by someone else. Could have used something for the fish like tartar or malt vinegar and my partners meal was incorrect.
Saw some nice looking cakes on the way out. Wasn’t aware they had a dessert selection.
Staffing I think is probably what’s holding them back from a great experience. Server seamed to be doing her best wearing so many hats.
I’ll give it another try, always try and give a local place more...
