I’ll start by mentioning the food star could go up a quarter of a notch. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t good either. Also, the place has an… Aroma that isn’t inviting. A gentleman brought us to our table and mentioned there were a few authentic Mexican specialties that were off menu. Then we waited. … Like; a while! Then a girl came for drinks orders, and we waited a while, then our server came and took drinks orders. Yes. I know I said the last part twice. My date ordered a breakfast sandwich, and I asked for breakfast tacos. We got what we asked for, but my partner wasn’t feeling particularly great afterwards, and I was disappointed in my presentation. Again, I got exactly what I asked for, but I’ve had WAY better elsewhere. Honestly, the tacos were good, they were just a bit… Lacking. They left me with a red salsa which was really good, but it was also really hot! Also, after the food was dropped off, service was all but gone. We could see them, but they must’ve been behind some kind of sci-fi force field or something because we tried everything short of standing up and shouting and we couldn’t get their attention. I remedied my salsa situation by asking the kind folks at a neighboring table if I could use their green salsa and they obliged. Again; the tacos were good, but they just looked like if I made them at home and only one tortilla per taco…It had higher ratings, and I hate to say it, but this review might be the reality check needed. Friendly staff, but overall a bit disorganized and...

I must have driven by this little restaurant in the Shiloh Mall several times. Probably way more than several lol! But it is truly an excellent diamond in the rough, a shiny nugget of a business that has to be very valuable to the city. All I can say, my steak and eggs with cheesy potatoes, excellent wheat toast, excellent coffee, really hit the spot. My wife just had soup and a couple of slices of fresh banana bread. The soup was definitely homemade as was the banana bread. The food is fresh, Lorenzo makes sure he buys the food fresh several times a week. He doesn't like it sitting around too long. A nice business, kind people, Lorenzo works his restaurant with his Son, Daughter, and Wife not necessarily in that order, LOL! Lorenzo's recipes are his, he worked as a chef in highland Park for approximately 20 years, and in lake Forest approximately 14 years. So, he does what he does extremely well! You should stop on in, it's a huge upgrade over the previous owners style. Our waitress was Lupita, and, she was a real professional and very attentive to our table. Her attentiveness and skill was definitely worth every penny of a 30% tip. Make sure you stop in, you won't be disappointed.
Oh, and one more thing, bathrooms were spotless! And like I always say, clean bathroom clean kitchen! Dirty bathroom, go somewhere...
Read moreThis place use to be my favorite of all time breakfast diner. However let me tell you the food as far as I’m concerned is going down they must have changed cooks because I have been coming here for a few years now I Order the same thing steak chilaquiles eggs over easy no cheese it comes with beans a rice. Today the beans was too thick , the rice didn’t come with it anymore and it was dry but the flavor was great , the steak taste like bloody uncooked meat no flavor. And the eggs was cooked to perfection. The last time I came I asked for steak chilaquiles it came with no steak and the time before that they didn’t have a ingredient to make it so I just left three strikes and your out the guy asked me was everything ok I really didn’t want to go into it because I was hungry and I hate to be a complainer plus I didn’t want my food to go back but yeah it’s a wrap for Lorenzo’s great staff very nice people quiet peaceful vibe need some updates to the restaurant but overall the food killed it for me everything else is on point. Not sure what the other menu items taste like I only eat chilaquiles in the morning...
