El Secreto — Restaurant in Punta Del Este

The only "Secret" here is that.... they are unashamed thieves! We felt terribly sorry for the waiters having to cross a busy street with the food, this in our view should be outlawed because it is a safety issue for drivers and the waiters. The service was therefore awful: food arriving late, not finished to specifications. The food itself was tasteless and the bill!....shall we talk about the bill, lol! Outrageous is too simple of a description.

In our opinion there are way nicer restaurants past the yacht club with a view...if you need one Overall, this is just a sample of what you find in this overrated town as far as customer service goes. Do yourself a favor and keep driving east towards La Paloma...not a luxury place but way cheaper and...

We were served in 40 minutes and my filet that I asked for medium rare came over-cooked. I sent it back and the waitress came back 15 minutes later with the same steak cut in the middle showing a slightly pinkish color. When I cut in front of her the steak at various parts she saw that it was completely over-cooked. She proposed to change it. She came back 30 minutes with a medium cooked steak with the same cold French fries. 1.5 hours after we arrived, I decided to accept it. (My wife had finished her meal 45 minutes earlier). The meal took 2.5 hours. The service was terrible and the food...

Zero value for the price tag. Service was middle of the road. Sunset view was a silver lining.

Food was overpriced, but edible, except for one dish. Mariscos ala plancha was over seasoned, and overcooked. Loved the same dish elsewhere, on this same trip. Maybe it was a mistake. Tried to mussel through it…but couldn’t waste anymore wine trying to wash it down. By the time someone asked how the food was, we were ready to go, so took the loss instead of making a complaint. You can’t win them all. Would go back for the view and drinks, but skip the dinner menu. Not worth the price tag....
