I went with friends for New Year's Eve and we got a good deal, so it was worth it.||The hotel is located on the main Avenue in Punta del Este (Gorlero), so you can either consider it very well located, because it's close to everything, or on a terrible location, once it's a VERY busy area. ||I'd say it depends what you're looking for. ||If you come by car, it might be an issue. The hotel doesn't provide parking, so prepare to spend a lot of time looking for a parking space - it's almost impossible to get a spot in hight season. If you do not have a car, I'd say it's a good choice. You'll be able to do almost everything (note: in Peninsula) within walking distance. I just have to point out there's a square really close to the hotel with a craft fair that gets crowds of teenagers, which can be annoying, since they're loud and sometimes drunk.||The pool is nice and breakfast is good. The rooms are ok. The entrance it's quite nice, considering it's an old hotel. But don't expect anything fancy - it's far from that.||Overall, if you are prepared for all that and doesn't want to spend much in a hotel, I'd...
Read moreWe spent three nights in Punta del Este in ealry January. Our first hotel was terrible, so we decided to switch the next day and checked out many hotels in town (town is very walkable). We saw rooms in 6-8 hotels listed in the Lonely Planet and Fodors guide in the mid-range categories, and Hotel Peninsula seemed to us to the best deal - $80 for a double room, including breakfast (which was standard). The hotel is well-located on Av Gorlero, though new travelers should be aware this is the really touristy, more crowded part of Punta del Este proper. (If we had it to do all over again, we would stay outside of town, at a nicer place along the beach, perhaps towards La Barra). There is a small pool in the hotel. There is free internet, although there is only one machine so there is often a wait.||The room was in decent shape (no frills) and had A/C (though it was loud) and cable. The bathroom was especially clean and recently rennovated, though it did have a strange, faint odor and the shower was...
Read moreThe location is great, it's in the middle of shopping, close to restaurants and both beaches!! This is a basic hotel you sleep and shower in, your not hanging out unless it's a dip in the pool. The breakfast was simple but good. The bed was comfortable but the room is old school. The bathroom was really clean and a huge shower which was nice! You can walk to the bars but too far for high heels! Bring flip flops to change into. This is a perfect place to drop your stuff off and go to your friends fancy...
