Literally stumbled upon this place on the way from the lake to the cable car. We weren’t particularly hungry but we saw them cooking the Banh Can right out front, there was a reasonable traffic going on among locals, and, well, you just have to rise to the occasion sometimes.
They very cheerily seated us and all we had to do was raise two fingers. They got right to work. Immediately they placed two small bowls of a very involved sauce in front of us (fish sauce, sugar, shallots, green mango and two delicious pork meatballs). It was tempting to treat the sauce like soup but we waited for the cakes.
The cakes were amazing. Five cakes, each consisting of two sections each section with a whole quail egg submerged in rice batter. Outsides were crisp and yolks were still runny. Dipped them in the sauce and just...wow. We had thought the portions were too large for one sitting, but they were featherlight and well, you just have to rise to the occasion sometimes. We olbiterated them.
The whole thing for both of us came to 60,000 VND (about $3.00 US). We floated out of there and down the street. Half way down the block I get a tap on the shoulder, and our waiter had chased me down — I’d...

The friendly owner whips up these mini rice flour pancakes fresh on the spot. The first bite was a delightful explosion of textures - the crispy, slightly browned exterior gave way to a soft, almost chewy inside. It's simple, but so satisfying.
They don't go overboard with fillings, keeping it classic with just eggs. But the real magic lies in the dipping sauce. It's this incredible savory-sweet concoction that has a hint of spice. It elevates the whole experience, making you want to go back for more pancake after pancake.
The atmosphere is pure Dalat. With the cool mountain air and the bustle of the street, it's the perfect spot to grab a quick and delicious bite. While it might not be fancy, Bánh căn Nhà Chung left a big impression on me. It's definitely a must-try for anyone visiting Dalat and looking for a taste of...

We ordered: Quail egg banh can with beef Chicken egg Bahn can Hot soy milk (by default, sweetened with sugar. Comforting drink in a cold night) Yogurt (tasted like yakult custard) A sort of sausage wrapped in leaf (not a favourite, but good to try!)
In addition, we ordered two types of fish sauce dips (the top two on the menu). One was the original dip while the other tasted like it had prawn paste mixed into it. Each bowl of dip came with two meat balls. You’ve got to order the fish sauce dips to go with the banh can! They’re inseparable. Banh can is bland on its own. The dips make them...
