The cafe itself is very nice and they serve lovely drinks. The staff are also very friendly! However seeing how the cats were treated by customers was a pretty uncomfortable experience.
I went on a weekend so it was pretty crowded, and there were lots of children. The majority of the cats were visibly not happy with what was happening. They were non stop picked up/grabbed. Some of the cats would try to hide under chairs and benches, just to be dragged straight back out by a child. When the cats would wiggle and fight to get free from the child they would be swooped straight back up by other people. This happened over and over.
I saw a cat trying to leave a woman’s lap but she wouldn’t let it. She pinned it down onto her lap when it was trying to fight its way off. Another woman was putting her hand on a kittens neck/head and holding it down to the ground every time it would try to leave. And a cat was hid under a chair with 3 children harassing it. The cat was hitting the children’s hands to try to keep them away from it. The majority of the cats looked very stressed.
I don’t think the cafe is wholly at fault, because I’ve been to cafes before where the cats can be handled, just like this one. However the customers have always been super respectful to the animal, rather than treating it like it was a toy. I’ve seen some similar reviews below. So maybe something needs to be done when it’s crowded to stop this from happening.
We went downstairs to the ground floor to finish our drinks and it was 100 times better down there. There was only 4 people, and the cats were being treated SO much better. We played with a super cute cat until it fell asleep...
Read moreThis is a very clean cat cafe, in fact the cleanest out of the 4 we visited in Hanoi. The space is small but I believe there's more space upstairs, try and avoid weekends when it gets busy.
The drinks were nice and the staff were very friendly. Only bad part was the way guests were handling the cats, during a 2 hour visit we saw people picking up cats when they didn't want to be, they were being vocal and wriggling around generally looking uncomfortable. As soon as the cat got away from one person the next lot grabbed it, people were also going to where cats were relaxing, sleeping and hiding to grab them and drag them out to play with.
I did enjoy my time at this cafe but I didn't enjoy seeing the way guests were annoying the cats. Maybe a rule of only staff pick up cats or only pick up a cat if it approaches you would be a better stand point but other than that the place is great. Also has amazing views over the lake and provides a varied...
Read moreAs a cat guardian myself, and having been to many excellent cat cafes; this is by far the worst!
Cats should always be the first priority. These cats seem sickly and lethargic. The hygiene is so bad. As soon as you exit the lift, there’s this horrible musty smell. Way too many cats cramped for the space they have. It’s like jail for them. Not enough litter boxes for the cats they have. Why are they all in sweaters? The way to keep cats warm is not with clothing! They’re kept out here as toys There is no rules or information given to people about how to handle cats and behave around them. People treat them however they like.
Food + drinks aren’t great either.
I would never recommend this place to anyone. I hope these cats find a better...
