Read moreA Culinary Gem in Hoi An - La Lua
Last night, I had the pleasure of dining at La Lua, a Vietnamese restaurant in Hoi An that I can only describe as a hidden culinary treasure. This place is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Vietnamese flavors with a unique twist.
The menu was an exciting journey through Vietnamese cuisine. I started with the Fried Lotus Roots, which were a delightful mix of crunchy and savory. Then, the Fried Hanoi Pho – a creative take on the traditional Pho, transformed into a crispy delight. Finally we had the Spicy sous vide grilled duck, leaving me savoring every morsel.
The ambiance of La Lua added to the dining experience. It was relaxed, with ambient music gently enhancing the cozy atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for both casual and intimate dining.
The owner and chef, hailing from Hanoi, personally served us, adding a touch of warmth and authenticity to our meal. His passion for food and hospitality shined through, making us feel right at home.
The quality and creativity of the food were exceptional, rivaling that of a Michelin-starred restaurant, yet priced typically for Vietnamese fare. It’s rare to find such high-caliber cuisine at such reasonable prices.
I wholeheartedly recommend La Lua to anyone visiting Hoi An. Whether you’re a food enthusiast or just looking for a memorable meal, La Lua is a place where every dish tells a story, and each bite is a taste of Vietnamese...
Read moreWe stumbled across this exquisite jewel of a restaurant this evening. Drawn initially by the lovely façade, and the serenity of the hostess (no attempts to drag passers-by off the street here!) we immediately loved the style and subtly faded colours of the interior.
As our order was taken, we were gently guided towards the best (and usually cheaper) dishes. From the first mouthful it was clear that the food at La Luna was simply on another plane from most of the other dining places in Hoi An. Everything was fresh, really fresh, from the herbs, to the mushrooms, and the coconut milk in the soup. Even more notable was the clarity of the flavours. Nothing ever muddy, everything vibrant, with the individual ingredients playing their parts in the dishes exquisitely.
This review may sound somewhat over the top, but honestly, La Lua would be a remarkable find in any city around the world. Do yourself a favour, cancel your other plans and...
