Great place with very nice staff. We were planning to eat here, so we could use the sun loungers for free. Then my friend remembered a forgotten appointment so there was suddenly no time for food and we just had some smoothies on our way out. The staff was all very nice about it even though we had promised to eat there, and the smoothies were excellent. I'm definitely going to this place again if I I'm going back to An Bang beach.
Like previous reviewers have pointed out, you need to check out exactly where you are going in the maps and ignore all the people yelling at you to park your bike and pay for it as you arrive to the beach. Just push through to this place, that has free parking. There are more places along the way that will try to lure you in with offers of free parking, but this one just seems nicer to me, than the other ones.
In addition to screaming civilians there will be official looking guards in a kiosk as you arrive to the beach, screaming that no vehicles are allowed (including bicycles). This kiosk is situated before you reach the right "street" nearest to the beach. I didn't dare to pass these with my bicycle so I turned in to the second street from the beach. At the end of it, it was possible to squeeze through to the right street by a sandy (almost not even a -) path...
Read moreI come to Hoi An literally 5-6 times a year and this used to be my favorite spot. Well, not any more!
I was on my own and arrived around 9:30 AM it was almost empty and the staff told me all the front seats were booked?? Plus they didn’t seem very happy to see me anyway maybe because I am Vietnamese and on my own?! :) they probably think I am poor and won’t spend as much money as their FAVORITE western/foreign tourists.
Had to awkwardly order a drink eventually and sitting there looking at the cheesy decorations they have put up lately, bit much for a beach bar/cafe I’d say. Got too annoyed in the end then decided to walk away while my drink was still half full. I just couldn’t be arsed to waste my time there. I am now in another bar called Phuong’s which is a 5 min walk from there, it is a lot more quiet this side, got a front seat without any question asked and people are nice. Atmosphere is way more relaxing and there is nothing superficial in their decorations. I am planing to spend my whole day here giving them the business they deserve.
P/s: My review could have been 1/5 for the unpleasant experience I had there but I also don’t want to pull their business down, even though I won’t be coming back there, I hope they will try to improve...
Read moreDue to the high level of hospitality in Vietnam, expectations are typically high with respect to service level. Unfortunately, La Plage doesn’t really live up to it. It took a while before someone greeted us, and they told us directly to pay 200 for two beds. As we heard that beds typically come for free when ordering food/drinks, we asked to elaborate. Then they admitted it was considered a deposit if we also ordered food there. Although we were planning to stay all day, the directly wanted us to pay for our first drinks, which is kind of annoying as it better to pay everything in once at the end of the day. When my girlfriend wanted to go to the toilet, they stopped her and she had to convince them that she belonged to their beds, very frustrating. We had to go to the restaurant itself to get the menu, as there was no one around to ask for a menu. In general, poor service. To end with a positive note: the food...
