I am compelled to share my recent experiences at Maxim Halal Restaurant, which were deeply disappointing. My first visit seemed promising with friendly staff, particularly a gentleman in a hat who demonstrated commendable customer service. However, my return visit was starkly different and extremely unsettling.

The atmosphere of the restaurant was overshadowed by the presence of another individual working with the previous staff member" i think he is the boss, bolt men". This person’s behavior was not only unprofessional but also disturbingly rude. The way he treated his staff was appalling, but what stood out as particularly egregious was his racist comment towards a staff member, telling her to “go back to India.” Such behavior is intolerable and goes against the principles of respect and decency.

This incident has completely overshadowed any positive aspects of the restaurant, including the quality of the food. It’s distressing to witness such blatant disrespect and racism in a place that should advocate for cultural sensitivity and kindness, especially in the hospitality sector. I hope the management addresses this serious issue promptly. Until then, I cannot in good conscience recommend this restaurant or plan a return visit. Reply to the restaurant owner's reply:

In response to your reply, I find it necessary to reiterate and clarify my stance. Your assertion that the staff member in question was Vietnamese and not Indian does not diminish the inappropriateness of the racist remark I overheard. The core issue here is not about the employee's nationality, but about the use of a demeaning and racially charged statement in a professional setting, which is unacceptable under any circumstance.

Your attempt to discredit my account by questioning the nationality of the employee involved is not only irrelevant but also indicative of a concerning lack of understanding regarding the serious nature of the incident. Racism, in any form, should never be dismissed or justified.

Furthermore, the quality of service on my previous visits, which I did acknowledge in my original review, does not excuse or negate the unacceptable behavior I witnessed. Your advice about my demeanor " Smiling" upon entering a restaurant is both unsolicited and misplaced, especially when addressing a complaint of this gravity.

I stand by my observations and my review. It is disheartening to see a response that focuses on deflecting and denying rather than addressing the core issue of racism and disrespect in your establishment. I sincerely hope you take this feedback seriously and take appropriate action to ensure a respectful and inclusive...

Was really disappointed on the portion of the food shown in the menu, we ordered the meal shawarma where the portion did not match the cost of the meal.

At the start of the meal, the workers gave us a bottle of water each. As we did not order the water, we declined and they explained the water was free of charge. But when the bill came, they charged us 20k VND per bottle and claimed we misheard their offer (there was 3 of us). The owner was very rude to us when explaining this aswell.

Overall a disappointing and enraging experience for us, we STRONGLY do not recommend this restaurant. You’re more likely to get a bang of your buck elsewhere.

The problem was both: the portion and price, and it had nothing to do with the fact we shared it among 3 of us. The portion was meager even for one person (the fries served was a joke - another reviewer stated this as well) and it was not worth 195,000 VND. Please do note that my review still stands even if I ordered the dish for myself only.

You clearly stated the bottle was free of charge. This was when we refused the bottle in the first place. Another reviewer also commented the same thing here: being charged the bottle of water even after being initially informed it was free.

There was no snack given.
