Khoai — Restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City

The staff is great. I had a problem before, but they addressed the problem. All is good here. I would recommend going to this location

I have been going to this khoai for years. The staff is usually friendly and i treat them well. I went today in bt. And when i said "hi my names Richard" to the waiter, the waiter (who did not give his name) said " i don't want to know your name". Which I feel is really rude. When i tried to tell the manager, she said it was a joke and he's not working right now so it's okay. He IS an employee, but thought because he clocked out he no longer represents the business and can be as rude as he wants, even though he was still working. I did not laugh at this joke, and they did not say sorry for their "joke", even after i told them it was not a joke, and was just rude. HE SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO TALK TO PATRONS LIKE THAT.

I hope the managers contact me for their employees uncouth behavior. Shameful. They need training and he needs to be held accountable...

There are a lot of expats, kind of a hipster expat joint. If that's what you like (like my classmates did/do), I think you'll love it. It's a cool atmosphere, especially on the roof. You can reserve tables through their page on Instagram (and maybe fb?). It's quite loud though and pretty packed - which is why I personally didn't care for it. Again, if you're into socializing and the bar scene, this is probably a pretty good place for you.

The food didn't taste bad, but the chicken quesadillas are so tiny, each piece is about bite size; the length of one of my (woman hands) fingers... yet, two girls that were in my party didn't complain about theirs. I guess it's good for women? 98K if I recall... I saw the burger, other than it looking a little small, it looked much better than the quesadilla and I heard it's decent.

The San Miguel lychee flavor (one of the cheaper beers) tasted more like a sparkling wine - if that's what you like. The Huda beer (Vietnamese brand) tasted like a reg beer, not bad. I probably like it...

The ambience and rooftop of this bar/restaurant was lovely. The food is pretty good and the service was friendly and helpful. The reason for the four stars is the food delivery. First, the waiter/waitress 'memorised' our orders and didn't write them down. Sure enough one dish was forgotten and when we reminded them, was given the one we'd already had. Also, one dish took so long it arrived cold and although they reheated it, it still took ages to come back again. There are many micro floors to this quaint place, so I wish they would give their staff paper to write the orders down, or use the new tablet programme that can send the orders straight to the kitchen. A dummy waiter (tiny food lift) might come...
