I booked the one bedroom apartment at LalaHouse Riverside Residence in Binh Thanh. I used to live in the area. It's located in a good spot. I love it. I texted the property to make sure I reserved what I had seen in the pictures. I got a message from the property through Agoda that it was confirmed. They said it was. This is way before Tet. The next time I was messaged was only after my card was charged and them asking me if I had WhatsApp.They wanted to talk there because the apartment was double booked. Not my fault. Tet was ending, but they could have told me my apartment was not ready way before my card was charged. They could have told me a month before or even two months before. I was given the choice of a room with a window that faced a wall for two days or a rooftop room (apartment?) that had a very old air conditioner, moldy bathroom and whatever kitchen supplies were left on the roof. They said it wasn't cleaned because of Tet. They offered me a poor discount which I took because I was tired.(They also said full refund but I wasn't sure if it would happen). This next one is my big thing that made me upset. I asked for drinking water for the week as a compromise. I said I would carry it up the stairs.(In Vietnam a 20 liter bottle of water delivery is $3) They would not do this.
They said I could get into the apartment early on the day when it was supposed to be ready. I couldn't. A light bulb needed to be changed and couldn't have been done when regular tenants had to be checked out by 12pm. I got in close to 2pm because I complained. Oh and there was a used jug of water by the previous tenant with about 5 liters left and they said "We left this for you"
At the end of it, I reserved an apartment months in advance and did not get what I bought. I did not appreciate the way I was treated.
If you do stay here, rooms are clean, stairs not elevators(some websites say elevators), WIFI is just ok, hot water is solar, one bedroom apartment is really nice but doesn't match the pictures. Ask for pictures of your place, because the the ones posted on the websites I looked at did not match. I used Agoda and Expedia. Both groups of pictures were the same. Maybe they are up to date now.The one bedroom...
Read moreI stay here whenever I'm in Saigon. I'm here for a month this time. The staff is very helpful and responsive. The rooms are clean and comfortable. I like the location because it's fairly quite, there are many western food restaurants within a 5 minute walk. Mexican food, the best burgers in SE Asia IMHO, Aussie pub, and plenty of Japanese food. It's a mini Tokyo. Easy to ride a motorbike to District 2 where there are so many great restaurants and District 1 again with lots to see and do and eat. The biggest thing going for this place is the value/money ratio. For a 30 night stay I'm paying 9 million directly, no agoda or other middleman. 4.5 million deposit with 5K/kwH for electricity. Good wifi, free washing machines and motorbike parking in the basement. The one thing that I find disgusting about this location is there is so much trash and litter everywhere on the road in front of the property. It's so sad the Vietnamese people can not learn to stop littering everywhere in their country, it's like a national past time, throw your trash...
Read moreExcellent location, a HUGE one bedroom apartment, furnished with fridge, microwave and laundry machine. It's probably great for someone arriving for longer duration like a month or more. I was there only for a few days, so wasn't as ideal for me, as I normally prefer hotels. The host was extremely friendly and supportive, even late in the night when I arrived. The only issue, which might be more a Vietnam problem than anything, is the presence of small bugs arounds, which I would constantly find on the table and in the bathroom.Aside from this,...
