Kitchen By The River — Restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City

Absolutely the worst dining experience I've had in Saigon. The food and service here are very subpar, even moreso for a place that's supposedly upscale. Went here Christmas night, and was extremely disappointed.

Examples of poor service and food Shrimp were NOT fresh. After mentioning it to the waitress, she talked to the kitchen and then came back to us and said many customers had made the same complaint. (okay, so what are you going to do to FIX the problem? Absolutely nothing but offer us tea that we didn't want? Continue serving it to other unsuspecting customers? ) Waitress knocking my fork off the table and never bringing me a new one Main courses being brought out before appetizers were finished (even though we had confirmed not to do so previously) Said main courses being brought out a second time cold Charging 50k extra for prawn crackers that ordinarily come with the salads Restaurant was almost 3/4 empty, but service was super slow and inattentive At 630 pm, the restaurant didn't even have napkins prepared. When we asked for some, and the table next to us also complained (having asked for them multiple times), an employee finally started folding some very slowly.

Positives.

The food was very good, I'd say it was one of the best buffets in hcmc.

The steal if the show was the desserts, very tasty with high quality ingredients, they were simplistic, yet very imaginative.

Wagyu and tomahawk steak were amazing, not tough or overcooked. The mashed potatoes were also very good

Negatives:

Service was very bad. Everyone treated you as a transaction, not a future client.

Not many people offered to help. They often acted like they would help then dissappear.

Also. One of the maiterd d's harassed my party to move seats in the lounge, during the piano listening, our group wasn't a group of 7. First time this has happened to me, it seemed like the staff should have been ensuring the guests don't use their phones and disuading the children from talking and running around, vs harassing us and explaining why we need to move seats.

Verdict: Definitely will come back and give it a 2nd chance.

First, open your eyes at where you step. The floor is nice looking but the grass stripes are ok if you pay attention because they are not levelled. I ordered 200grs wagyu, no asparagus and the waiter proposed cherry tomatoes. 30 minutes later 😶 "sorry for late delivery". Me: Oh. That looks like 100grs wagyu choice and no vegetables. Lady admitted it looked like the 100grs one. They would bring me another 100grs and my tomatoes. Well, about 20 minutes later the tomatoes appeared (I already finished my dish for long-fast eater-). 30 minutes still no wagyu. I said would ask the bill at 35. Then asked the bill and the wagyu came 2 minutes later. Sorry but no. Restaurant was maybe 25% occupied. So not busy.
