Nhà hàng hải sản Hào Phong — Restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City

The restaurant was empty when we arrived but 3 more tables came in as we were seated upstairs. Only 3 larger tables and a counter on the main floor. About 8 tables on the 2nd floor with the washrooms. Everything is older and the standard to low level of clean for Vietnam average small businesses. Could be better for in the bathroom and corners. Not a place for fancy meal or bringing guests but ok for a quick stop for lunch.

The host and waiter staff were very good. Some staff are rude. I.e. cleaning lady and the lady at the counter didn't have the time of day for us to look up or not mop over us. AC was mild but better than nothing. The iced jasmine tea was good. The food was good too although it was on the bland side if I was to be picky. Lots of dinner items but no dim sum, which was what I was hoping for.

TOURIST BEWARE: Food was good and the servers were attentive. However, the owner/manager was greedy and shady when the check came; they did not allowed us to use our credit card as payment even though their Google page stated that they accepted credit card. We even double checked and called ahead confirming that they took credit card. This is a terrible way to run a business and it definitely ruined a good meal for our entire family of 20 people. We won’t be coming back and definitely won’t be recommending this place to our entire network of family...

We tried the staff recommended Grouper fish meal (deep fried the fish body and the head for soup), but the staff didn't tell us that there was an extra charge to cook the soup until we received the bill. While we were eating they were sweeping 🧹 the floor, they also talked loudly with obscene words.
