We have been returning customers for 4-5 times now. We absolutely love the food and the atmostphere in the restaurant.
However, today we have to write this review because we were so disappointed of the service we received this evening.
We have had marinated crabs a few times at this place, and not just this restaurant but we have tried it many other places as well. We have to acknowledge this is one of (if not our most) favorite of Korean food in Saigon.
However, this evening when we ordered marinated crabs at Tia To, after our first bite, we immediately realize the difference of the taste. It tasted so BITTER, not salty but bitter!!
We tried to communicate this with the server and these are the responses we received: They first blame it on the taste of the crab organ. But we recognize the bitter taste mostly from the sauce and the seasoning. Raw crab meat tasted fine. After 2 times going in and out the kitchen, we received the same dish, same taste, I don't think the chef even tried to taste it before returning it to our table. The third time, they put water in the dish to dilute the taste. Yes, it was less bitter but still not the same taste we expected. After that, the server just brought our dish back to the kitchen. 15mins goes by, we had to ask whether we should expect a new dish coming or not. They just straight up said they already canceled it. WITHOUT SAYING ANYTHING TO US?? The last thing the guy said to us is that we should have eaten the crab with rice like we don't know the proper way to enjoy the dish. Salty sauce with rice, we can understand. How rice can help with bitter sauce? Remind you, we have been at this place at least 3 times before.
Most importantly, we didn't receive any apology from the staff the entire time. We understand the batch of food could go wrong sometimes due to many factors. Our concern is the customer service and how they don't seem to even try to resolve our problems but rather try to blame it on us!
We know you guys were worried about losing the money on that dish since it's one of the most expensive food on the menu. But this is a very unprofessional way to handle customer's complains. We won't be returning to this place or recommending it to any of our friends. So you guys didn't just lose the money for the dish, but 2 returning customers and future referrals as...
Read moreMy go-to comfort Korean food place. If you are looking for a family-styled/home-cooked Korean meal, Perilla is definitely the place to visit. The side dishes (banchan) are plenty and prolly super diverse compared to other Korean restaurants/bistro in Ho Chi Minh city. Side dishes can also refilled upon request, of course without extra charges. The best dishes here that I highly recommend: Perilla soup - creamy texture and rich, giving you a feeling of that slow-cooked meal. Healthy vibe. Grilled pork - amazing dish which is best for rolling with salad and rice. No need to dip in sauce because of the seasoning of the meat. Buck wheat cold noodles to mix with hot sauce. This is a typical mixed cold noodles which tastes best during summer. Kimchi tofu beef/pork soup: comfort food.
The bowls and dishes used for serving have design whom represent the Korean royalty in the past. Extra plus point, recently, every time I had lunch/dinner at Perilla, the staff gave me and other guests a cup of cinnamon rice drink each person. It was a refreshing with strong cinnamon...
Read moreTia To offers a generous selection of panchan, but personally, I found that not all of them appealed to my taste. The menu lacked variety, and I was disappointed to find that the dish I specifically came for, fermented clams in soy sauce, was no longer available. The majority of the options featured pork, with limited choices for beef and chicken.
In terms of taste, the food was average and didn’t stand out. The service could have been more attentive, which affected the overall dining experience. Considering the quality and variety offered, I felt it was not the best value for money.
While Tia To has its strengths, such as the extensive panchan selection, my experience was mixed, and I am uncertain about returning...
