I personally didnt like that place. Nothing that exceptional. Too many people in such a small space & yet they couldnt take order but we had to check what we wanted. So in my view it was a stupid & painful process. I had to check the menu, & next I had to figure out where to check in that exact copy of the menu, then the attendants had to check 4 sides of sheets to see what I ordered. It wasnt a surprise they missed one.
I used to live in Japan & I ate out everyday, I know some places the cooks behind counters tend to focus on their jobs & they were not so smiley, engaging with customers at the counter, but I am not sure, there was a subtle but big difference between not smiling & focusing on your work vs. look too tense. I felt a bit uneased in that space. Music was too loud too (again, it was a very small place)
Prices were not cheap. With that small space, & limited menu (& I had to work out what I wanted to order on those sheets myself), I thought prices should have been lower.
Their japanese green tea is good. But no refills. Know that that cup's really small, so with no refills, it is not enough tea to finish a meal. So dont order their...
Read moreMy friend and I picked this restaurant randomly after a yoga class in the same area. We just wanted a light meal, didn’t expect much.
The outdoor seating at night time was casual and yet very nice and relaxing. We had beef teriyaki roll, spicy salmon roll, and curry noodle. The food was surprisingly good, although the roll were a little small comparing to those that we normally have at a sushi restaurant. The curry was smooth and tasted spot on. It made me want to come back for more.
Service was alright. The window for the bar was closed and server wasn’t available all the time, we had to walk to the front door and waved at the window to get their...
Read moreOffering both indoor and outdoor seating, but the space is limited so ROLL is ideal for small groups (1-3 people). The indoor counter (around 10 seats) fills up quickly, so reservations are recommended. The outdoor area, due to its location within the Alley 28 Thao Dien complex, provides a more comfortable setting with a view of other shops and plenty of shade from trees. The service is attentive, with staff frequently checking in to ensure I have a pleasant experience. While the food is delicious and very reasonably priced, it lacked a wow factor. However, for casual maki cravings, ROLL hits the spot and will likely be a repeat...
