Shalom Coffee - The Vista — Restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City

I am a resident of the Vista who frequents Shalom quite regularly and occasionally meets with clients in the venue. Today I came in and I bought a banana muffin. I asked for a glass of water and the waitstaff said okay. A few minutes after the muffin had arrived I asked for the glass of tap water and was told that it was company policy not to give a glass of tap water to anyone who had not bought a drink. That's news to me. I came in and bought a product and sat at the table. This is bad customer service and extremely greedy on the management's behalf to tell me I cannot receive tap water as a paying customer; it's never happened before (and just perhaps I need water for health reasons?). I am strongly considering never returning to Shalom again under any circumstances.

I wonder if I were a paying customer and coughing to death whether I'd have to worry if I got a glass of tap water because I didn't pay enough. I bet they'd let me choke to death in their venue because I hadn't given them enough money.

I don't think the vegetables or the wontons for that matter in my soup were fresh - probably frozen but I might be wrong - probably not. The salted cream coffee was very good - with salt and cream how could it not. Service is kind of sketchy. I had to get up for everything like condiments, napkins, toothpicks. The ladies here have nice smiles though. I wonder why this place is named Shalom; I guess because they have bagels. The name was more than likely my motivation for stopping in.
