Review of Thai Market – A Delightful Thai Escape in Ho Chi Minh City
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Thai Market, located at 95 Cao Thang, Phuong 3, Quan 3, Ho Chi Minh City, and I must say it was a delightful experience that offered a refreshing change from the Vietnamese cuisine I’ve been indulging in lately. As someone who adores Thai food, I was thrilled to stumble upon this spot by chance, especially after noticing that they accept card payments (a big plus for convenience!) and boast an award-winning reputation.
The moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly, and I was promptly served by Trong, who left a great impression with hier efficiency. The service was super fast—my order was taken and the food arrived in no time, which I appreciated as I was quite hungry. The atmosphere felt inviting, and the restaurant’s branding as a place that promises “Sabaidee Happiness” definitely set a positive tone for the meal.
Looking at my bill, I ordered a variety of dishes to get a good sense of their offerings. I started with the Ca Ri Vang Ca Hoi (Yellow Curry with Salmon and Piper Lolot), priced at 200,000 VND. The presentation was lovely, and the aroma of the curry was incredibly enticing with its rich, coconutty base. However, while the flavors were generally well-balanced and the salmon was cooked perfectly, I found the curry to be a bit salty for my taste. It wasn’t a dealbreaker by any means, as the dish was still enjoyable, but I would have preferred a slightly milder seasoning to let the natural sweetness of the coconut and the freshness of the salmon shine through more.
Next, I had the Tom Yum Hai San (Tom Yum Soup with Seafood) for 175,000 VND. This was a highlight of the meal! The soup was bursting with the classic tangy, spicy, and aromatic notes that make Tom Yum so iconic. The seafood was fresh, with a generous portion of shrimp and other morsels that added a delightful texture to the broth. It paired wonderfully , which came in handy as the spice level was just right to make my nose tingle.
To drink, I opted for a Dasani Water (20,000 VND), which was a simple but refreshing choice to balance out the bold flavors of the meal. The total came to 400,000 VND, which I found to be quite moderate for the quality and portion sizes. Thai Market also notes that the price includes VAT and a 60-minute free parking fee, which is a thoughtful touch for diners.
What stood out to me beyond the food was the overall experience. Trong’s attentiveness and the speed of service made the meal even more enjoyable, and I appreciated the little details like the encouraging message on the bill: “Serving Sabaidee Happiness!” and their invitation to provide feedback for a better experience. It’s clear that Thai Market values its customers and strives to create a welcoming environment. As someone looking for a break from Vietnamese pho and banh mi, Thai Market delivered exactly what I needed—a taste of authentic Thai flavors in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City. The fact that they’re award-winning didn’t surprise me, given the quality of the food and service. While the yellow curry was a tad salty for my palate, the Tom Yum more than made up for it, and I left the restaurant feeling satisfied and happy with my choice to step in. I’d definitely recommend Thai Market to anyone craving Thai cuisine in HCMC. It’s a great spot for a quick, flavorful meal, and the moderate pricing makes it accessible for a casual dining experience. I’ll likely return to try more dishes from their menu, and I hope they might tweak the saltiness of the yellow curry next time. Overall, a solid 4 out of 5 stars for me—well worth the visit!

Read moreIt was quite disappointing as I heard lots of good thing about this place. The food was mediocre tbh and we waited a long time, the staff was nice and friendly, the atmosphere is lovely. We ordered a Lao style papaya (which is made with fermented crabs: the papaya was cut too thick and they didn't pound it enough so it wasn't absorbing any of the lovely sauce. Next, we got a seafood pad thai: was quite meh for a pad thai cause to me, it was dry and underwhelmed. Then, we ordered a Thai style grilled beef: do not reccomend, beef was tough and really gamy unfortunately. We ordered a seafood tom yum: it was okay, quite mellow for a tom yum, a bit of a kick would have been great. Last we ordered a pineapple fried rice: it was surprisingly nice, I love pineapple and raisins so it was 8/10 for me. I'm pretty sure with the same price, everyone could find a way better place. Real boring food for a Thai place I have to say, didn't impress me so hopefully the restaurant will take this comment into consideration and improve their quality...
Read moreThis Thai restaurant is overrated! I can say this is one of the worst Thai restaurant in Vietnam. The green curry is full of chicken breast and taste is not nice. The Tom Yum Seafood has too much fish and taste is horrible. The seat against the wall (at the back of restaurant) is uncomfortable as the cushion keeps moving forward. The price does not reflect the quality of the foods. The staffs need a better training too, to understand how to clean the table properly and respond to customer complaints. The only positive about this restaurant is nicely decorated, especially the facade. Sorry, i wont...
