The Hub Saigon — Restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City

A rooftop bar in which to hopefully watch the action at Tan Son Nhat International airport.

One point of contention, although the bar was confirmed to be open, access to the T level by elevator was not. We had fo ask the staff to buzz us up to the rooftop level. (-1 point).

Since my last visit, the bar has improved in ambience but the use of space is still mind boggling. Placement of the bar, cashier, pool and facilities are just a bit weird. (Neutral)

[Update, I found the sauna and gym which is super distant from the pool, pas the fry-kitchen. What were they thinking? (-1 point).]

Also the windows that display the airport are difficult to clean and probably easily get dirty, so it diminishes the whole experience. (Neutral)

The menu features several cocktails but strangely the only local beer they serve is the ubiquitous but nonetheless trash 333 beer. (-1 point).

You’d think this is the perfect spot to showcase some of Saigon’s craft scene to people transiting through or on short stays in Vietnam. (See above, a 12-year-old could choose a better beer list.)

Anyways, the bar is empty and is probably a testament to the above points. Nobody has put thought in terms of how this could become a great place to attract regular and new clientele.

I can’t picture this being a regular hangout for myself of my plane-watching aero-dynamic friends.

Certainly wouldn’t have come to this establishment if it wasn’t for the welcome drink granted to me by the hotel.

If in the mood for plane watching, head a bit up the road to Go Vap to enjoy the aircraft coming in right overhead.

The view from the rooftop bar is really nice, and the style is okay. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing: according to the listed opening hours, the bar should have been open until midnight, but when we arrived at 11:20 PM (having gone there especially), we were not served at all. There were still about five other guests, whose glasses were full. It’s very sad that the stated opening hours are not respected, which really spoils an otherwise...

We ordered a vegan burger and it came with cheese and mayo. Disappointing- we had to scrape it off as we didn’t get offered a replacement.
