The food was ok, but the service and experience was absolutely abysmal. The staff were rude and one decided to get physically violent with me.
Firstly, the staff refuse to serve you if you don’t order enough food to their satisfaction. To add context my friend and I were on a street food tour and we’re going around different places to try local food, so wanted to snack rather than have a full sit down meal. The staff refused to serve us for a while but eventually they decided to as we refused to leave.
Secondly, they started giving you add ons (really basic ones) without specifying that these cost extra and were quite forceful in giving those to you - even prompting you to and how to eat items.
Upon paying the bill, I provided an amount as per what I ordered on the menu and the waiter stopped me, screaming at me to pay 100k dong more for some really basic rice paper I didn’t ask for. I refused as this was not agreed and made attempts to walk away, then rather than try to explain why he is annoyed at me, he started screaming at me and grabbing my arm until I paid him the 100k. I wasn’t going to cause an issue over this and gave him the money but it was a terrible experience to be scammed, screamed at and physically held.
Do not recommend to anyone especially foreigners who don’t speak Vietnamese - find...
Read moreAfter a period of much-discussed drama, Banh Can 51 has triumphantly reopened on Thai Nguyen street in Nha Trang. The new spot is noticeably more spacious and brighter than its previous location, yet thankfully, the authentic flavor that loyal customers adore remains virtually unchanged.
A personal highlight is their exquisite dipping sauce – a perfect blend of fish sauce and scallion oil, served with tangy green mango and delicious Vietnamese meatballs (xíu mại). This traditional accompaniment truly sets them apart from other Banh Can stalls/eateries in Nha Trang that have veered towards less authentic chive oil, which isn't true to the local taste.
The stars of the show are still their signature crispy rice cakes, generously filled with fresh, succulent shrimp and squid. These toppings are consistently fresh, offering a delightful crunch and bursting with flavor, filling each cake to the brim.
While the place can get quite busy, especially during peak hours, their service is remarkably quick. If you're patient enough for a short wait, the experience of enjoying authentic Nha Trang Banh Can here is absolutely worthwhile. Highly recommended for a true taste of...
Read moreI was walking on the street and past by this place. I saw the review showed this place is popular but I was surprised that none of the staff speaks English, and beside this, they’re very rude. There’re 2 meat ball soup served on the table which cost 10000 extra. Beside this bowl, there’s no other sauce served on the table. So I asked for some soy sauce, and there’s a lady came directly and push me to use the meat ball soup, she even want to put my food directly to that bowl. I told her to stop and I said it’s an extra charge I don’t want to use that. Finally another guy gave me some soy sauce. This dish is everywhere but only this shop served as portion. 6-8 pieces per portion. And it cost shrimped 160000 for 6, mixed portion 100000 for 8 pieces, but there’s only 7 different type, so they make double pork. This dish taste nothing special, just powder and egg mixed and there’s...
