We had dinner at Bao Ngon restaurant on Nov 29, 2022. We ordered Bao pork shoulder with bbq sauce, Bao grilled mushroom (vegertarian), and a ginger beer. Here is my rating: Bao pork with bbq sauce: very good. The pork was sauted with fine shreded carrots, onion and cabbage. Then these was stuffed inside a bun ( like regular Chinese bun). First, when I tried the pork by itself, it was bland, but then when I ate the filling together with the bun, it was a completely different taste. The tender meat blended very well with the crunchy carrot, the smoothness of the melted cheese and the spongy texture from freshly made bun. It was delicious! Their bun was soft and moist to the last bite. The vegetarian bun: excellent. The mushroom was tender but not overcooked. The tofu was coated with batter and breadcrumb then fried to a golden brown color. All was combined very well with the soft and slightly sweet bun. The ginger beer: good. The beer came with some chia seeds and few slice of lemongrass. It was sweet and I could taste the ginger. Prices were very reasonable. 55k and 59k VND for the buns, and 25k for the drink. The restaurant was a little small but clean with warm and cozy lighting. The bathroom was also clean too. We enjoyed our dinner very much and highly...
Read moreWent here with my family and absolutely loved our dining experience. The service was amazing the the waiter that served us was attentive and friendly to us all night. My favourite was the frog curry and the soft shell crabs. Bao buns were spongy, sweet and paired well with the rich curry sauce. Salads were fresh and fragant. Only feedback was the rice - a bit bland even after the sauce and we thought it could have been better fried but again all come down to personal favorites. The prawn bao buns was divine and is definitely top drawer. They offer diverse drink selections and we had the hibicus and passionfruit sodas. Both were aromatic and were good for a food-focused venue. The housemade ice cream was 10/10, not too sweet and extremely rich in flavour. Everything was very affordable and suitable for students/ couples. Food was presented with such flair! Bookings are recommended as the venue is quite small, closed-space and thus may not be kids-friendly. Apart from this small hiccup this place was well worth it!Looking forward to...
Read moreDelicious food! We got 3 bao buns- the fried fish with passion fruit sauce was crispy and delicious- nice blend of flavors. The shrimp bao was also very tasty as well as the pork with egg bao. We also got the apple and bacon salad that had a delicious dressing made with yellow mustard- it’s served nicely on the side so you can flavor the salad to your taste. We also got the fried tofu rice pot that had crispy fried tofu and vegetables with egg in the pot- also flavorful, healthy, and good. We got two fruit teas as well and they were freshly mixed with fruit and refreshing. All this plus bottled water was less than 500k- we could have each just gotten a bun and a salad and been very full- we took home half of two Baos. The service was very friendly and quick. The shop is pleasant...
