I’ve been coming to this restaurant every evening since I arrived in Tam Coc, and the food has always been absolutely delicious. It’s one of my favourite spots here.
However, today I was feeling unwell with an upset stomach after a rough night, so I kindly asked if they could prepare a simple toast with just a bit of banana and a mint tea, as I couldn’t eat or drink anything else. Unfortunately, the staff member who attended me — wearing a white Burberry t-shirt — was quite unfriendly and unhelpful. Despite my polite request, I never received the mint tea, and when I gently mentioned it, she was extremely rude and even laughed in my face. There were only three customers in the restaurant at that moment, so there’s really no excuse for forgetting such a simple request.
To make things worse, I was charged as if I had ordered a full toast with many ingredients, without any understanding or empathy for my situation.
It’s honestly very disappointing to have such an experience in a place I had come to really like. That said, I’m still giving a good rating because the food is excellent and other members of the staff — especially the woman in the lilac shirt today — have always been kind and welcoming. Thank you for all the other nice...
Read moreNgon Vegan is an excellent restaurant tucked a bit back from the main drag in Tam Coc. We came for lunch and at the same time ordered takeaway for dinner for later, and loved everything we had. Service is prompt, friendly, and attentive, and the space is calming and lovely. -Mango pineapple smoothie: delicious, smooth, refreshing -Protein salad bowl: with multiple sources of protein from tofu, tempeh, and chickpeas, healthy fats from cashews and avocado, and plenty of fiber, this is more filling than a typical salad. -Chocolate smoothie bowl: got a big thumbs up from my husband, said it really hit the spot after a long morning of walking around in the sun. -Vegan noodle soup: delicious broth, lots of tasty vegetables. -Lemongrass tofu: very lemongrass-y, so flavorful. Comes with great purple rice -Stir fried morning glory: awesome, love this dish -Noodles with fried spring rolls: a great vegan version of bun vermicelli noodle bowls Prices are very reasonable, and portions are satisfying. Definitely...
Read moreI’m not the type of gal to fan girl (in general) but you can count me as an official member of the NGON falafel fan club. It’s legitimately one of the best things I’ve ever put into my mouth and I’m considering staying in Ninh Binh longer just so I can eat here again. It doesn’t stop there though! There’s not a single thing that we’ve tried here that didn’t convince me that whoever is cooking in the kitchen isn’t performing some kind of wizardry to access some other-dimensional flavor/texture realm to make it unapologetically addictive. We come here twice a day and every time we leave we feel comfortably full, nourished, and with a brand new conviction that we (avid meat eaters) would have no problem turning vegan. I’ll say it louder for the people in the back: I WOULD TURN VEGAN FOR THIS PLACE. Full stop.
The only regret that you’ll have if you eat here is that you won’t want to eat anywhere else, and very few foods will measure up in the future. It’s okay, though. Do it anyway. And enjoy every....
