We spent the day on Khem Beach and I can say hand on heart what a lovely beach it is, except for the content watchful eyes of the security staff at the department of chemistry restaurant.. We all need to remember that this is in fact a Public beach and you can't be moved, we where told when we arrived that we couldn't sit outside the restaurant, I'm assuming this is so you don't block the view for the customers, this was at 1400 the restaurant doesn't open till 1600.. The hotel and restaurant really need to speak to there staff, as the more this happens the more you will alienate outside guests who will in turn speak to other people and perhaps tell them to go elsewhere on the island.
It would also appear that guests themselfs who are staying at the JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa also where told they couldn't sit outside the department of chemistry.. Can you imagine paying all that money to be told that you're not allowed to sit on the beach!!!
Khem beach is a public beach, take you towl and sit wherever you like, please the more people that do this the better it will be for the local people and...
Read moreWe went on the public beach in front of Department of Chemistry today and while we were in the water we saw one of the uniformed staff moving on of the women along the beach, seems like she was told she can not be there! When we got out of the sea the staff was making an x sign with her arms and pointing to there all the other people we’re gathering, motioning for us to move! THIS IS PUBLIC BEACH! So disappointed with this action, you are alienating tourists, who do not know that they have a right to be on this beach!!!! Absolutely appalled! If you are on this beach please do not let them bully you and move! 50 meters from the sea is public beach! After a while they found another member of staff who spoke English and again came to ask us to move! After we refused and said they have no right to ask us to move he lingered around and finally left! Department of Chemistry sort out your staff!!! On the website your place only opens at 16.00, your staff was intimidating people from 11.00!!!!! Maybe instead of paying staff to sit around and intimidate tourists, they can pick up a bag and clean the rubbish...
Read moreCustomer service and training needs work. Asked to add a little more Aperol to our watered down drink, staff named Dam responds by saying all drink spirit standard is 45ml. All cocktails can’t universally made with a “standard of 45ml” and typically when you ask the bartender to spice up a drink they do. Really honestly, it wasn’t really about us the money and having to order an extra shot of Aperol (like who does that?) it was that her attitude - one can complain that the cocktail is watery… she was not receptive to customer complaints and we were unable to communicate with her as she was adamant that “this is out standard” and that she was the bartender (I don’t know if she is). We realized it wasn’t worth our time to try to talk to her so we just ended up not ordering more. By the way, the recommended recipe on the Aperol official website is 60ml! I even showed this to her to which her response still was 45ml at this bar. Jeez louis. In the end she came back by taking the “extra shot of Aperol” off our bill but damage is done, a good evening pre-dinner drink experience ruined for...
