I had a terrible experience at French & Co. inside the JW Marriott Phu Quoc. We booked the cafe through its Sevenrooms booking system, but when we arrived, the manager claimed our booking was invalid because it was not the “correct” booking link. And he said they are also the "victim" coz they told the website to amend it so many times. We were held at the entrance for 15 minutes. It seems this is a private cafe for residents, which isn’t stated on the website. The manager insisted that the only way to enter was to purchase a 500k VND voucher per person, which is absurd since we couldn’t possibly consume five cups of coffee each. Came here for drinks and the opportunity to relax. Well laid out inside, French & Co. has a homely feel about it.
The only downside was the music. Rather than festive and bright, we were treated to a baritone drone of Christmas songs recorded with a 50's feel. Too sombre for the setting.
