This place was recommended by Lonely Planet, and as a result was absolutely jam packed with Westerners. However, I wouldn't call this a negative point at all, just an observation. The main point to this review is this: a tiny tropical island in Vietnam has absolutely no right to serving burgers this good. The pictures online do absolutely no justice to how good these burgers taste, it just doesn't make any sense. As a resident of London, I know the trendy burger scene very well and think I've probably eaten way to many since they started becoming trendy in London, Paris, NYC. The burgers here taste absolutely as good as any of them, and I'd put them in the top 2 or 3 if the restaurant was in London (just as an example). The restaurant itself was very cool and relaxed, and Winston was very happy to talk about the craft beers he had in - which are also really good, and not just for Vietnam. Winston was greeting everyone and was very friendly, and the whole place had a great feel to it. Cocktails were really nice and reasonably priced, burgers ranged from I think a little over 100k to 250k which is maybe not "budget eats" for Vietnam but I would describe as such for any tourist. We went two days in a row because the burgers were that good we weren't even ashamed to be eating Western food instead of Vietnamese.

So far I'm impressed... By far one of the best burgers I've had in Vietnam.... Maybe in top 3 of the Best burgers I've tried in Vietnam... And probably within top 5 of Best burgers overall.... And believe me, I had My share of burgers (stateside, Europe.. Everything from Low end burgers to fancy pansy gourmet burgers) .... 😂😉 Burgers Are great sizes, the handcarved large fries was fried to perfection... The dipping sauce I had served with the fries remains a Mystery... It wasn't bad... But very mild and I couldn't identify exactly what it was.. My Best guess would be some sort of Ranch / bluecheese dip / creme-fraiche-herb dressing?... Unfortunately for My waist size My hotel is located more or less next to this place... To be able to give a more accurate review on this place and Especially their burgers, I'll have to collect more "data"... 😂 So it's fair to say... " I'll be back!" 😉

Winston's was quite packed with customers when I arrived, but fortunately there was a spot for us at a long table that we shared with another couple. I had the Winston's Choice burger (Phu Quoc peppercorn crusted beef with cheese, bacon, mushroom, and onions) and it hit the spot, fulfilling the burger craving that I seem to have every other day. As others have mentioned, the price is a tad bit high considering it doesn't come with fries or any sides, but I can overlook a dollar or two when it comes to good burger. I also understand that ingredients from their suppliers are probably more expensive on an island than a large city such as Saigon. The staff was observant and spoke good English. And as someone who has managed restaurants for several years, I really appreciate that Winston chats with his customers to make sure they enjoy their meal.

Decent food, burgers were good. However: staff glare at you as you walk in, they give menus without a smile or even a simple “hello.”

They also provide cheap ketchup (instead of Heinz) which is quite ridiculous given how expensive the food is (about $7-10 for a burger).

They also immediately take the menu away from you as if they can’t fathom the possibility of a customer possibly wanting to order more food later (like a dessert or drink for example). We would’ve actually ordered more...
