I first came here in 2016 and it was much nicer. Now it's not clean, there's too much rubbish on the sand and in the water. Development was permitted too close to the water, there's little beach left and there's lots of abandoned structures from hotels and restaurants right on the beach. They have water drains on the beach in full view spewing god knows what into the ocean. I didn't even bother swimming. It's sad, it's much better to go to Danang or Nha Trang though now it's rainy season there so...
Read moreThe beach has some good restaurants, beach bars and quite nice sections, but seems like those are only kept clean by the respective resorts and bars. Partly questionable to disgusting sewage that flows into the sea. During our stay, the water was never really clear, always somewhat cloudy and greenish. Depending on the current, a lot of garbage was washed up (small plastic particles, styrofoam, fresh+sticky food packaging and large plastic sheets). The beach itself is beautiful, but overall kind of sad when you take a closer look and see the extent...
Read moreThe northern strip of Long beach is a joke, like the rest of it and like the rest of the island. The whole beach is divided between the "resorts", so you can't find a shade or use the sunbeds unless you pay. The sand is being washed away due to crazy development, like in so many places in SE Asia. Sewer pipes are just no suprise. There's nothing to do here really, just a couple of bars.. Beach is full of old russian people, like the rest of Phu Quoc. Sadly, Phu Quoc goes the wrong direction. Could have been a great...
