The food was average and unfortunately our experience with the service was a DISASTER!
When we arrived, we were asked to wait because it was busy, which is understandable. After 5 minutes, more guests arrived and were immediately told to sit upstairs, we then asked a staff member what was going on and then told to sit upstairs.
We ordered right away since we knew it might take some time to prepare our meals—a chicken curry and a chicken phong nha. We waited about 50 minutes with no communication, while the table next to us were given updates about their food and complimentary snacks.
At around 50 minute mark we were told it would be another 5 or 10 minutes. After around 75 minutes, the food arrived to the table next to us. There seemed to be some confusion at their table and we then noticed it was the same dishes we had ordered. The table next to us then handed the dishes back after eating part of it, that plate was then taken downstairs, wiped then given to us. Totally unacceptable.
We realised this and complained to the manager who apologised. He then asked for us to give him another 10 minutes to prepare a dish we didn’t even order. We were also left without cutlery and a bowl to eat the curry until we asked the waitress.
Total wait of around 80 minutes and served a dish we didn’t even order. Probably couldn’t...
Read moreWe stopped at this cafe & restaurant place after our visit to the Phong Nha cave from Hue and while we had to wait for a bus to Ninh Binh (unfortunately we didn’t stay longer in Phong Nha this time, but we’ll definitely be back...)
We had a couple of coffees and chocolate brownie, everything was lovely! Then Liên started talking to us, and she kindly offered/suggested we should leave our big backpacks next door and go for a walk in town, rather than just sit for hours in there; so she arranged for that, and she also kindly arranged for our laundry to be done and ready within an hour and a half (these were smelly from the last minute bad service laundry in Hue...) Liên was so kind and lovely, she was a life saver fixing all our worries :)
We went for a walk, and then got back for some diner (before we’d catch our bus at 9 PM), we had the Phong Nha Volcano (grilled tomatoes stuffed with minced beef and onions and other goodness...) and the prawns and fish spaghetti with the special beetroot sauce, the food was beautiful! Some of the best dishes we’ve tried so far in almost 3 months in Vietnam!
We had a bit of a chat and a couple more drinks before we left for our bus. Absolute amazing service and vibe! Can’t recommend this...

My colleague and I had dinner here during a quick working trip to Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park. Although I’ve known the owner, Hai, for quite a few years, this was our first time experiencing his now well-known restaurant — just a stone’s throw from what many call the best cave in the world.
Fun fact: Hai, my colleague, and I all share a passion for running — so catching up here over dinner felt extra meaningful.
The restaurant seems to be a magnet for international travelers, especially Caucasian tourists. Every evening it’s packed with young couples, close friends, and traveling families. Despite the crowd, the atmosphere is calm and cozy. You can enjoy soft music and have relaxed conversations without raising your voice.
We had duck breast, bread, and beef steak — all beautifully prepared and delicious — with cold local beer to complete the meal. One note for diners: be ready to wait a little while for your food, as the restaurant is usually full and everything is made fresh.
Highly recommended — a place that combines quality, warmth, and a sense of community right in the heart...
