Drifter’s Paradise Pizza — Restaurant in Quảng Bình Province

I ate & drank there quietly as a solo until I made a comedic comment to the young man working (27yo) about a table of drunkards that sat down. After making my remark he sat down at my table & we continued to drink & talk together for 2 or 3 hours. This man spoke English very well (never had to whip out my translator) and was a great conversationalist. I was beginning to feel lonely, as this area does not have many solo travelers, but he made my night as our conversation stretched across many topics. The pizza was priced very well but if this were not my last night in Phong Nha I would return for just the conversation alone, but don’t sleep on the pizza it is of good quality too. The Saigon beer is also sold at a great price too (20,000 VND). Don’t overlook this place & the one male workers there. Ordered the meat lovers pizza and it was incredible, better than some American pizzas if not better! Size was awesome and a great value as well, was going to only eat 1/2 and take the other back to the hotel, but it was so good I couldn't stop eating it. Was a great change from eating local food for over 2 months and needed a little taste of America. From the toppings to the dough it was probally the BEST pizza I've had in a long time. Highly recommend and a fantastic value as well. Went back the next night for a double cheeseburger with fries and wasn't disappointed either. Still had ti finish off my American gravings. An excellent recommendation from a fellow traveler. Considering you're in the middle of Vietnam, just outside the Phong Nha National Park, this is delicious pizza. The ingredients were the best I had in Southeast Asia, with the owner (Drifter) sharing that he sources them from a number of countries through a buyer in Dong Hoi. You can order in two sizes: small or large. You can go with one of his options or create your own. If you're an American and love ranch with your pizza, make sure to ask him about his home made dressing!
