Compared to some other spots around here that mash up European and Vietnamese dishes in a chaotic mix, this place feels refreshingly tidy and focused. That’s definitely a plus in my book. That said, there are some drawbacks. The prices hit me hard—they’re steep for Phong Nha, especially when you consider the ingredients aren’t anything out of the ordinary compared to other local eateries. I’d heard from a friend who’d been here that the kitchen’s got input from overseas chefs, so I came in with decent expectations. After an epic morning exploring the wonders of Dark Cave and Paradise Cave, we returned to town with a ravenous appetite and stumbled upon a hidden gem: The Rice House. Despite the odd hour of 4 PM, which left the place nearly deserted, our experience was nothing short of delightful.

From the moment our food arrived, we were beyond pleasantly surprised. Each dish was a testament to the use of fresh, high-quality ingredients and meticulous preparation. The eggplant clay pot was absolutely to die for, bursting with rich flavors and perfectly cooked. Equally impressive was the beef stir fry, which was both delicate and delicious, showcasing the chef's skill.

The staff at The Rice House were incredibly friendly, making us feel welcome and well taken care of. Their warm hospitality added to the overall fantastic experience.

In terms of value, The Rice House offers great food at a good price, making it a must-visit when in Phong Nha. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with beautiful lighting, wooden interiors, and tasteful décor that blends modern design with a cozy Vietnamese touch. The staff were fantastic — super friendly, always smiling, and genuinely helpful throughout the meal.

There’s a solid selection of food and drinks, and every dish we ordered came out quickly, well presented, and full of flavor. The fried rice topped with egg was cooked perfectly, the clay pot chicken was rich and aromatic, and the crispy spring rolls were light yet packed with taste. We finished with a delicious banana bread and ice cream dessert that didn’t disappoint.
