We wound up playing mini golf here purely by chance, as we just happened to stay in the hotel across the street for one night. The kids didn’t have swimsuits for the hotel pool, so we were looking for something to do. I kind of dread mini golf outings with my kids because I always think it sounds fun, but then find it to be kind of boring. This place however feels like the mini golf you always dream of and imagine, but never actually experience. The course is super well maintained, well lit, clean, and just fun! Every single hole is unique and exciting with different moving parts and challenges, water, roller coasters, elevators, lions and tigers and bears…oh my. The manager greeted us at the gates, explained how it all worked, and then the rest of the staff guided us into our tee time after about a ten minute wait or so. There are two 18 hole courses, one with groups of two or three, and one reserved for groups of four. It’s so well thought out because this way, the groups ahead of and behind you play at a similar pace, which keeps it enjoyable for everyone. Now, I feel like they get cheated in their google review score of 4.4 stars. When I read that score, I was concerned it would be another boring mini golf course that’s overpriced and under delivers. But I filtered to the bad reviews, and never one mentioned the experience of the course itself, but rather a disagreement with their VERY WELL POSTED POLICIES of not allowing small children or groups larger than 4 to play together. Personally, those rules are what made it so fun for our group of my 41 year old self, and my four children aged 9-15. We broke into two groups of two and three, playing right next to each other, and had a blast. This is actually a professionally run mini golf place, that’s willing to upset a small percentage of people to ensure the happiness of the other 99%. Long review short, it was great. Go there, and have fun(unless your kid is 47” tall)!

I have been coming here for nearly 40 years, since it was at the original location on Dempster St. it was always a decision on if we wanted to ride our bikes to Bunny Hutch, or take the Pace 250 bus from Skokie to Par-King. The course at Park-King is/was far superior. All of the holes are the same as the original. They used the same fiberglass molds to make the holes at both the original and the Lincolnshire locations. I founds out last time I was here that is has been owned by the same family since the 1950s. You don't get any more authentic than that. The place is nice and clean and well kept. This is not your average mini gold place. The holes are unique and fun to watch. It is a great trip to do once a year especially if you have little ones. If I recall correctly it is cash only, so plan accordingly. Make sure to visit local treasures like this; supporting these small businesses is the only way to ensure their survival and thus the fun for future generations to enjoy. This is my favorite mini-golf place that I have been to yet. The t-shirts are really nicely made too and when I wear mine I get a compliment on it from someone every single time. It goes to show how known and loved this treasure of a place truly is.

We played in June of 2021, and decided it is our favorite course out of 50+ courses we've played. Our 7 year old waited for quite a long time to meet the height requirement, and his first trip did not disappoint. This place hits on all the key notes. Nostalgia. Handmade, non mass produced, obstacles. Well maintained courses. Incredible staff and hospitality. The manager, a very tall gentleman, knew our son was cutting it close to the 48" mark, so he made sure to measure him. We told him that Hunter had played around 40 courses prior to this, and had obsessed over YouTube videos of Par-King. He said he wanted us to give him a review of the course after we played. At the end, Hunter gave a beaming review and the man was incredibly kind to give us each a Par-King t-shirt. We will be back in town this weekend, and cannot wait to come play again.

Five of us played the black course on our way through the area on vacation. All-in-all, it was great. You rarely see mini golf courses with such clean and smooth greens. This was key for Par-King’s experience. The holes were creative and increasingly difficult, which I appreciated. However, the final hole has no skill involved whatsoever and can drastically change the game. You might want to agree ahead of time with your players that is a one-score for everyone regardless of the roulette results. Yes, it’s cash only (ATM on site), $10 per person, and a 48 inch minimum height. Yes, they split our party of five due to a h four person maximum. But it was fine. Would go again and change rules for the last hole.
