Too bad for anyone who had a bad experience here. Obviously I can only speak for myself, but I had a great evening at Marabú even though I went there solo during a special event. Came here early to get a seat to see Color Tango. The doorman seemed to struggle with where to place me, as his reservation list was very full. But he worked his magic and got me a 2-top near the bar. My data signal was poor, but the staff hooked me up with free wifi. I took a pre-milonga lesson with Monica and liked her class so much, I also took some private lessons with her a few days later. As for the milonga itself, it was one of the best milonga I've ever danced at. Every dancer who I danced with was more advanced than me, but also really friendly. We started the evening with a 1 hour lesson on the dance ( they are not joking! They are serious about this art form). That was followed by maybe an hour of open dance floor for anyone wanting to dance the tango (recorded music). At about midnight, the tango band came out and performed a very entertaining piece, then a professional tango couple came out and performed 3 dances. It usually starts with a class around 6 or 7 and then at 9 there is a patry with many people who come to dance. Often they sell tango clothes, nice hamdmade shoes some days and can have a bottle of wine and some food as well and look how everybody damces so beautifully.
