The Cordoba Spain Cultural Center opened its doors on April 7, 1998, the result of an international agreement between the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development and the Municipality of Córdoba, with the purpose of promoting creation and local artists, building bridges that encourage the joint creation between these and the new Ibero-American expressions, and promote the Spanish living culture.
Since its opening, it has quickly positioned itself in Córdoba as the most prestigious establishment in terms of conceptual axes, production quality and public affluence within the framework of local and Ibero-American aesthetics. The extensive programming of the CCE.C and its communication system have become a reference in the cultural agendas of other public and private institutions of the local circuit.
The CCE.C is located steps away from the Jesuit Block, Historical Patrimony of Humanity, in the Center of the city of Córdoba, and is housed by a plot of land designed in 1587 by one of the co-founders of the city, the captain Francisco López Correa. After passing through different owners, the current house was built between 1871 and 1876 by the Garzón Maceda family. It underwent subsequent modifications that brought it closer to the Roman style, with three courtyards enclosing and hierarchizing its areas, which translated the social life of its inhabitants. The House is one of the most outstanding exponents of domestic architecture of the nineteenth century in Cordoba. It is part of the architectural movement registered in our country between 1860 and the end of the 19th century.
The house changed owners throughout the century, until in 1980, by decree 2167, the Municipality of Córdoba, the Historical Museum of the City was created and the property was used for its operation as of 1983. In 1991 the Commune he paid homage to one of his great plastic artists, renaming the house as José Malanca Municipal Exhibition Center and, until the founding of the Institution, he worked in the José Malanca Municipal Museum of Exhibitions, which was later given to the creation of this space.
The Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation, under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Government of Spain -represented by the Ambassador of Spain in Buenos Aires- and the Municipality of Córdoba -represented by the Mayor- signed in November 1997 a letter of intentions to give rise to the conformation of the CCEC, approved by ordinance no. 9844. The stable headquarters, Casa Malanca, belongs to the Cultural Centers network of the Municipality of Córdoba. In 2002, the new representatives (Intendant of the city and Ambassador of Spain in Argentina) reformulate the Letter of Intent and, among other things, the Fundación Cultural Center España Córdoba is created, whose main objective is the intensification of cooperation Cultural between the city of Córdoba and its irradiation zone, Spain and, in general, the Ibero-American culture. The CCEC is governed by a management committee chaired by the Consul of Spain in Córdoba (representing the Spanish government) and an authority with the rank of secretary of the commune (representing the City Mayor), who designate the authorities and / or directors of the CCEC, with the final approval of the Direction of Cultural and Scientific Relations...
