Saint Sargis Vicarial Church is a beautiful church which has a beautiful exterior design made of white limestone and features a large dome and four smaller domes. The interior of the church is equally impressive, with intricate carvings and paintings. However, the atmosphere inside the church can be quite overwhelming for foreign visitors. The church is often crowded with locals who come to pray and light candles and the air can be thick with incense. Additionally, the church does not have any English-language signage, so it can be difficult for foreign visitors to know what is going on.

Երևանի երբեմնի բերդի դիմաց` Ձորագյուղի կամ Խնկելաձորի վերևում՝ Հրազդան գետի ձախ ափին, քրիստոնեության վաղ շրջանից գործում էր մի վանք-անապատ։ Այն պարիսպներով շրջապատված մի ընդարձակ համալիր էր՝ բաղկացած Սուրբ Սարգիս, Սուրբ Գևորգ և Սուրբ Հակոբ եկեղեցիներից, առաջնորդարանի ու թեմական դպրոցի շենքերից, այգուց և այլ կառույցներից։ Սուրբ Սարգիս եկեղեցին առաջնորդանիստ էր, անապատը՝ կաթողիկոսական իջևանատեղ։ Սբ. Սարգիս եկեղեցին վանք-անապատի հետ միասին ավերվել է 1679 թվականի մեծ երկրաշարժի ժամանակ և վերակառուցվել նույն տեղում՝ եդեսացի Նահապետ կաթողիկոսի գահակալության տարիներին (1691-1705)։ Ներկայիս Սուրբ Սարգիս եկեղեցին կառուցվել է 1835-1842 թվականներին։ Ն.Ս.Օ.Տ.Տ. Վազգեն Ա Ամենայն հայոց կաթողիկոսի օրոք այն հիմնովին նորոգվեց ու բարեկարգվեց։ Ճարտարապետ Ռաֆայել Իսրայելյանի` 1972 թվականի կազմած նախագծով սկսվեց Սբ. Սարգիս եկեղեցու նորոգումը։ Եկեղեցու հին շենքը պահպանվել է, ճակատները երեսպատվել են Անիի նարնջագույն տուֆով և ունեն եռանկյունաձև խորշեր։ Ճարտարապետ Ռ. Իսրայելյանի մահից հետո հետագա աշխատանքները շարունակել է ճարտարապետ Ա. Գալիկյանը։ 1971-1976 թվականներին եկեղեցին հիմնովին բարեկարգվել է, արևմտյան հատվածում երգչախմբի համար կառուցվել է վերնատուն։ Հին թմբուկի ու գմբեթի փոխարեն կառուցվել է առավել բարձրադիր գմբեթ` բազմանիստ թմբուկով և պսակված հովհարաձև վեղարով։ 2000 թվականին ավարտվել է Սբ. Սարգիս եկեղեցու զանգակատան կառուցումը։ Քանդակագործ Արտաշես Հովսեփյանի մտահղացումն է արևմտյան շքամուտքը, փայտե դուռը, իսկ շքամուտքից վեր գտնվող հարթաքանդակները Աղթամարի Սբ. Խաչ տաճարի քանդակների թեմաներով են։ Քանդակագործներ Ս. Դադոյանի և Մ. Հարությունյանի ջանքերով եկեղեցու ներսում գմբեթի տակ գտնվող առագաստների քանդակազարդ աշխատանքներն Արենիի Սուրբ Աստվածածին եկեղեցու առագաստների քանդակների նմանությամբ են ստեղծվել

Beautiful like other churches in this city, traditional design and so simple and nice, a room for candles separated from the main hall and has a vent on it’s roof, candles room is really romantic and calm, I liked it. Photography is ok here. I thing visiting churches for people of other religions is very interesting. Paints on the walls have great stories behind them.

Beautiful church, so the atmosphere is really calm and special. But as it's clear, it's an active church, so respect the privacy and calmness of the people praying there, don't point the camera toward them, don't use loud cameras and don't use flash to take the photos, specifically in the praying chamber where they light the candles.

One of the most beautiful tourist attractions in Armenia is churches. On Sundays, unlike other days of the week, which are beautiful and quiet places, churches become crowded and full of energy. People come slowly from the beginning of the morning and it gets very crowded until around 11 o'clock. Every tourist must visit the churches of Yerevan on Sundays. And from then on, seeing people walking around the city with crowns of flowers and thorns on their heads with the symbol of Christ is stunning. یکی از زیباترین جاذبه های توریستی ارمنستان کلیساهاست. یکشنبه ها کلیساها برخلاف سایر روزهای هفته که مکان هایی زیبا و آرام هستند تبدیل به مکان هایی شلوغ و پر انرژی می شوند. از اول صبح مردم ارام ارام می ایند و تا حدود ساعت یازده بسیار شلوغ می شود. کلیساهای ایروان را یکشنبه ها ببینید و از بعد هم از دیدن ادم هایی که با تاج های گل و خار بر سرشان با نماد مسیح در شهر می گردند.

Saint Sarkis Cathedral is an Armenian cathedral in Yerevan, Armenia. It is the seat of the Araratian Pontifical Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church. It was built in 1842, on the left bank of the Hrazdan River in Yerevan's Kentron District.
