This is the best themed restaurant I visited to date. If you are not familiar with the source material (or don’t speak Russian), you are going to miss on cool details, callbacks and wordplay. The restaurant is dedicated to the soviet film “Prisoner of the Caucasus” by Leonid Gayday and I absolutely love how much care was put into crafting of the interior. Figures, hidden rooms, paintings, music in the restrooms - all of it is rich with flavour and style. You can visit this place as a museum- it is that good.
And everything else is on the highest level as well. The food was perfect: delicious, enormous portions and served in a unique and interesting way (like shashlik on swords).
The service - excellent! Our server was witty, pleasant and welcoming. He was suggesting what to take and what to skip, warded us against ordering more (portions!) and during time of struggle (forgot some menu items) played it cool, with a sprinkle of humor, which made our evening special and his tip bigger ;)
Would love to visit again to explore the place some more and to try...
Read moreThis restaurant Caucasian Captive was very near our hotel and was highly rated. I asked the hotel’s front desk and the staff said that this was a good restaurant and mapped exactly where it was 200 feet from our hotel. We walked to the restaurant. The hostess at the restaurant said that they were not Caucasian Captive. We walked back to the hotel and the front desk said that the restaurant probably didn’t know their name in English. So, we went back, looked at the English menu and sat down. We then realized that all of the info about Caucasian Captive on Google Maps including photos of the restaurant’s interior and exterior were of this restaurant. Some of the dishes were named Caucasian __. It turns out that the restaurant’s staff doesn’t know the restaurant’s name in English. We had a great meal and the price was right. Highly recommended. They speak very...
Read moreDon't know if I can actually review the place or not, since they prevented me even from entering the restaurant, the lady working there took one look at me and just said no, she treated me very badly and unprofessional, no explanations no nothing, my wife is Armenian to begin with and she speaks fluent Armenian but still we were treated like we're criminals or something. That day I even sent an email to the restaurant, but they didn't even respond and that was over a week now. Reading the reviews here many of the reviewers said that they were treated bad because they are Asians or not Armenians, but at least they were allowed to enter and sit at a table and order food. I wasn't even allowed to understand why was she THAT bad to me and my Armenian wife. It's as if the lady there doesn't know any word in any language (even in Armenian) except for...
