There are lot of options that have been added to the centre, itās a completely different environment to what it was five years ago.
Port Adelaide Plaza Shopping Centre has the potential to be a 5 star centre, but is being negatively impacted by its surroundings.
This is why Iāve decided to give Port Adelaide Plaza Shopping Centre a 3 star review.
⢠Add 1 star for accessibility. There are car parks at both entrances which connects at the back of the centre. The centre isnāt too big, but the space is managed effectively.
⢠Add 1 star for the development of the overall cleanliness of the centre. Iāve seen the amount of vandalism and littering thatās required regular maintenance in the past, so itās worth appreciating that the team has squashed the issue.
⢠Add 1 star for the astounding service received at places such as: Sushi Hiro, & Soonta. These two places provide phenomenal food with phenomenal service. Soonta is hidden next to the Coles entrance, be sure not to miss them. Sushi Hiro is located next to the Kmart entrance along the walkway, theyāre worth detouring from Coles. These businesses have trained their staff with a high standard of professionalism, which if adapted by the surrounding stores could drastically forward the Centreās future development.
⢠Add 2 stars for maintaining the perfect balance between the quantity of stores, and the quality of stores.
⢠Minus 1 star for the staff who need a career change, leave your baggage at home so you can deliver a higher level of customer service whilst at your place of employment. If you donāt like your job then quit, explore, or reduce your hours, but definitely donāt complain - We didnāt come to hear you complain. Professionalism will enable Port Adelaide Plaza Shopping Centre to thrive through the law of attraction. (Coles, Kmart, & Liquor-land staff specifically need review their service)
⢠Minus 1 star for the demographic. It may be due to the fact that itās located directly across the car park from a corrections facility, or because itās less than a block away from a rehabilitation centre for Adelaides recently incarcerated, but inevitably it renders this centre as an uncomfortable place for people like my partner - who doesnāt enjoy the occasional harassment from some of the locals.
Itās almost a comfortable environment for everyone, which is a major improvement from a few years ago.. but some improvements are still necessary for this centre to become a landmark.
I hope my review and personal experiences of this centre have been useful, thank you...

Not enough fun events for kids on, yiros shop wanted 17 dollars for a yiros!?!
No locksmith, no Specsavers, no big W or target, no cheap as chips etc, no rite price or getta bargain or browse in or spotlight or op shops, no just cuts or body shop or lush or build a bear workshop or anything decent for that matter, doesn't look appealing, no fountain or pretty lights outside, no hungry jacks, no best n less or plus size fashion stores.
Have to wait an hour every time to see a dr at the medical centre
The bins outside are too small to deposit trash bigger than a cup. pretty small mall compared to Westfield's etc.
They have a charging station for your phones but no actual chargers...so what use is that?
Went to the post office and the internet reception in there sux, couldnt pay my bills on email, had to walk out of the store several times to get connection back for each bill to get them paid, and had to line up again each time... not good enough!
There's a major lack of places to sit down and eat in there as well, and there isnt any shade outside to watch the buskers inspringand summer. Walking to nearby KFC is pretty dangerous with cars everywhere and no clear pedestrian walkway to get there on foot.
Not enough disabled parks, my mum had to walk really far and she could barely walk because people are parking in the very few spots who are able bodied and walk fast in heels, one was even a staff member, I saw them start working at the reject shop after parking in the disabled spot.... Hopefully not all day, that's disgraceful!
Went to Kmart, tried to use a gift card and the machine wouldn't let me do it, my son leaned on the bagging area so it had another hissy fit...no one on manned checkouts, had to constantly get a staff member to come and fix it, took about 40 mins to check out about 10 small items.
Pancake kitchen closed too.
since they are also closing kmart I don't see much point going there soon...makes no sense when Port Adelaide area is expanding and becoming...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreRetail shops, food and specialist "boutique" style stores. Port Adelaide Enfield council attempting to rekindle the lipstick on a pig scenario with a run down and forgotten area of Port Adelaide.
The layout is extremely hipster, new age and incredibly confusing to read over head signs (as its mostly black signs with white writing) so finding the toilets was an adventure on its own.
Nothing really impressive, typical sheeple style play area for the kids like harbour town (which isn't really needed inside a friggin mall) - screaming brats swarm the area and obviously, not everyone wants to hear screaming kids in an indoor play area where the noise bounces off every thing. Food prices from neighbouring outlets was incredibly overpriced. The ladies toilets looked disgusting and hadn't been cleaned in hours.
Not the best first impression and won't be back again, it's just not got what everyone needs or wants, especially with the type of people who go there. The boutique type shops weren't busy, waste of money and building resources if you ask me. The mall needs Retailers who cater for the community, not super high expectations from middle to low class financially minded folk.
This is a copy of Rundle Mall - trying to be like them, no one around there has the income to support such stores. It seems the stores there are placed to recover the money spent to create that mall??? We need economic stores, shops real people go to for their food, grocery and practical things. Not wasting resources on putting stupid fake grass on the walls and calling it "art".
Please be practical and please have cleaners and security roaming...
