Spuds & Plums — Attraction in Brisbane City

I am generally happy with the quality of the produce. I would give 5 stars if this business made some advances with its packaging. I think that foam trays are not necessary. They cannot be recycled. It would be wonderful to see a Fruit and Veg business take a bold stand and completely move away from this method of packaging. Even if clear plastic containers were the alternative because at least these can be recycled. I would love to see a reward system to customers who bring their own bags so that customers can remove the plastic film after their purchase has been made and then place it in a soft plastics recycling bin near the counter so that at the end of the day Spuds and Plums can take this waste to the Redcycle bins at Coles which is just near the store. I would like to suggest that signs are printed to encourage customers to practice the recycling of plastic film and plastic containers . Customers could remove their produce from the containers as well and place it in their own bags, then leave the containers with the store so that these can be recycled. Its not difficult to find new ways of tackling the packaging problem. We can think outside the box and not just say its all too hard. We can turn things around little by little. Its a huge problem but I am sure that it would be a huge tick for Spuds and Plums in the eyes of many customers if they could see some initiatives being taken to address...

Just had the most disgusting and unprofessional experience with staff and manager of this store. Went to buy a pineapple listed as $2.50 , went to register to find out that it's falsely advertised and actually $2.50 p/kg, since when are pineapples per kilo ? I told the checkout lady in not so polite terms that I won't be getting extorted and walked out , the checkout lady in broken English then launched into a verbal tirade of abuse towards me to which I replied to in kind. Then as I was leaving the store I heard her call the manager, he followed me out the store and confronted me and continued the verbal abuse towards me , to which I replied in kind. Never in my entire 40 years of life on earth have I ever had such an unprofessional, agressive and abhorrent behaviour at any store or venue. Utterly disgusting behaviour from staff and the so called manager. Every time I walked away to de-escalate, the manager followed me through the shopping centre to continue his disgusting behaviour, and almost followed me through 8 Street food market. The products are good, but the cashier who served me today was really bad at her behaviour! She “stole” $1 from me which I can tell you she is doing this a lot from customers. I counted my coins twice before I handed over, and she took the coins and turned away for few seconds and came back said there is $1 short! I am pretty sure I did not miss count the coins, and when I looked over the counter, the POS was open with heaps of cash in it, and I was packing up my purchases so I didn’t pay any attention to her, then there is no proof of I gave her the rightj amount. It’s unacceptable that the cashier was not counting the cash/coins in front of customers and after took over the cash/coins and come back ask for more. If the owner ever read customer’s review please investigate. I don’t really care the $1 coin, it’s the behaviour that the cashier conducting is really a cheating!
