The Coffee Club — Restaurant in Brisbane City

Today I ordered some hotcakes with a side of berries. The 'meal' cost me over $20.

The first issue we came across was the lack of seats & tables; there was a table without seats for some reason. After ordering out meals we had to wait 5 minutes for someone to move. The table was stacked with dishes which smelt pretty bad, and we were stuck with them up until a few minutes before our meals were brought out. Even then they didn't bother wiping the table over. It was fairly pitiful in terms of cleanliness.

I ordered some hotcakes with a side of berries. It was absolutely nothing special. The pancakes were the cheap $3 for 9 pack from woolworths which you throw in the freezer and pull out on a morning you can't be bothered making anything. On top of that, we only received three of these small sugary things.

The ENTIRE point of going to places like this is to have something which you can't have at home. I got something which:

Could have been made by a 3 year old at home. Would have been cheaper to make at home.

My advice:

Instead of going to The Coffee Club in Garden City for hotcakes, here's what you do. You walk down the mall a bit, and you go into WoolWorths with $20. You buy a pack of hotcakes, berries, vanilla icecream, and a bottle of maple syrup. You walk outside to one of the many, many tables and you just make it yourself right there. On the spot.

My family (4 of us) went to The Coffee Club (Garden City) at 1:00pm on 17/02/2020. My mother-in-law has VIP membership and received an email from The Coffee Club which is offering "Buy one burger, get one free" plus can still take advantage of VIP benefits to "Buy one Hot beverage, get one free". Therefore, my mother-in-law planned to order 2 burgers, 2 other dishes and 4 hot drinks with showing her VIP membership card and email. However, the staff told her that she can only get "Buy one burger, get one free" when she purchase a drink. Also, she could not have "Buy one Hot beverage, get one free". Therefore, my mother-in-law paid for both of the hot drinks (hot chocolate x2),one burger (1 burger for free) but she cancelled other dishes and drinks. Also, the staff did not swipe her VIP membership card. I am writing this review is to report this misleading promotion. Firstly, the promotion email does not stated that the customer needs to purchase one drink when getting "Buy one burger, get one free" promotion. 100% not even worth worth 1 star came in and the first impression was that it was dirty... The table wasn’t wiped and there were coffee all over the menu, we ended up wiping the table ourselves because no one came. Then I finished an entire meal only to find a moth buried in the dressing and salad. We called over a staff member and she took the meal away saying that the store manager (Mick) will come over shortly and he came up like nothing even happened and instead of apologising first, he went to say that “These sorts of things happen all the time, don’t worry about it, our salads come prewashed so we don’t actually wash it here.” He later told us that if we came again they could provide us with a free meal but I don’t know why anyone would come back after the terrible customer service and food quality. Mick refused to give us a refund and you could tell that he was not sorry whatsoever and his attitude towards the customer and the situation itself was disgusting, it was only a moth this time but what if it was a cockroach in the salad.
